Wow, just found this thread and I'm so excited about this swap. Found a H150 and transfer case in the USA - maybe dropping it into my '92 FJ80 with the 3FE engine. I'm pleased to see the smaller-sized clutch and pressure plate / 14 splined input shaft on this H150 - that keeps clutch parts...

No, I totally forgot about those two shops! I've been out of the Land Cruiser scene for a few years having sold both our 40's. I just had to buy an FJ80 for my oldest son to learn to drive and maintain it! :) Both are fun to watch, but someday the driving will be less terrifying...

Timing is everything, and unfortunately its not the perfect time for a front axle rebuild for my family. No time to do the repair, but need the car running. Figure swap it with another and keep it running until I can repair it. Anyone in Denver have an FJ80 front axle hanging around...
I pulled the 92 FJ80 out of the garage, hadn't been moved in a year. Charged up the battery, turned the key, crank...crank...vroom!
Drove it to the car wash :) She needs a lot of work, A/C compressor, front axle seals, bearings...but it's a labor of love.
Have a NOS set never mounted or painted - Bandierante front fender aprons - for the FJ40 model.
These are insanely rare - relatively unobtainium in the U.S. - since we never got the Bandierante model here. Yes, they're stamped with "Bandierante" on the sides and these are NOT replicas...
I need a left front bumper corner for our 1992 FJ80, but figure I'll take a complete FJ80 bumper, if anyone has one locally.

I'm not sure what to "look-for" in regards to the cable...it is present and accounted for :-)
As far as adjustments go - Im gonna have to search those out.
One thing to mention is that the thunk goes away completely whenever I engage the center differential lock and test drive it...
Old thread, but thought I'd reply as I just picked up a '91 FJ80 with 315k and it does this exact thing. From letting off the gas there is a thunk. The front driveshaft will rotate by hand a good bit and I'm not sure how much play is acceptable in the drivetrain. I'll definitely check and...
