Installed the new insulator and I think I got rid of that leak but now I have an intake leak where the manifold bolts to head. I am using a Remflex gasket torqued to 20lbs. (2lbs over recommended)
Dizzy checked out ok. Sprayed carb base with carb cleaner and RPMs increased. I think my "new" used insulator is no good. Going to order a new one and go from there. Appreciate your input Heartworm.
klinetime, thanks for the compliment, 2f builds like yours make me not want to give up on mine.!
brass fitting is going to VCV on p. side by dizzy. Port on carb insulator to VCV for evap on d. side.
OK....so last night I went back and checked a few things.
-Rechecked all the valves...
That plug is in its place. Thank you for the response though. I am figuring that I have a really bad intake leak or maybe the fuel cut solenoid is not working correctly. I have done the green wire mod and it was functioning before all of this took place.
Ok. Need some help from you guys. I am hoping the solution is something small that I am overlooking....
A little about my 60:
-Stock Desmogged 2F.
-Rebuilt stock carb. by Marks Offroad (within the last year)
-Jim C. Dizzy Recurve/ rebuild (within the last year)
I blew a head...
Anyone have a reputable machine shop they use in PHX?? Blew the head gasket on my 2F and need to have the head checked out. Is there anyone in town that has alot of experience with 2F's or will any good shop be ok?
Here are some pics after pulling the head today. Any input/ advice? Pretty sure the gasket failure is between #1 and 2 cylinders. Does this look like an OEM head gasket? Also when I bought the truck I had a shop do a comp. check on all cylinders and they seemed to think that this motor was...
Not wanting to fully hijack this thread butt.......I need some advice. To make a long story short....I have the stock 2f in my 60 and overheated on the way home from a 700 mile journey. I pulled over to let her cool down and topped off coolant and it ran cool for a few miles. I suspect a bad...
i looked for used 10.50's forever and i ended up going with the 12.50's because i got a smokin deal on them. then i saved up and got the 8" wide wheels i'm running now. good luck!
Should have plenty of room buddy. I used to rock 33 12.50 15's on the stockers (not recommended btw) with a setup similar to yours and had minimal rub issues. The 10.50's will be gooood!:hillbilly:
Im glad to hear someones experience with these tires. Good or bad. I am running 2 BFG KM1's and 2 DunlopLops right now. I have beaten them all pretty bad so far but am happy with them both. It does seem like you get what you pay for with tires. The BFG's are holding up a little better.
If you are not doing the "green wire mod" like me then I believe it connects to the fuel cut port on the carb show in the schematic. We may have already plugged that port but I forgot we're doing yours a little different.
Just a followup on my shifting problems. Used the heat and bend method for two good reasons: Free and Free. Everything shifts good. Thanks for the input.
