    Bought my first 80 series…

Welcome to the 93-94 Fzj80 club. Love the interior. Looks pretty clean for a 94. Circled is the most coveted part in my opinion... Our Air Flow Meter/ AFM/ VAF/ The Flapper. Never open it. Never touch the screws that are circled. You will be tempted to fiddle with it. You will read about...

I knew better... my Heater Valve saga..

My 93 1fz heater valve finally started leaking. The plastic was falling apart in my hand when I took it off. I also bought a rock auto replacement. I have been thoroughly impressed. It's -37-40c now -35-40f. She functions great. No flow issues no leakage. The true test will be in 27 years to see...

    Long term part storage

Started out with a shelf that looks similar. Now it's all Plastic bins. Everything gets cleaned up if it's used, smaller items get bagged. Label everything what it came from (year/model) and year it came off/bought . New parts seperate from used. One of my struggles was throwing away my "spare...

    Stuck crankshaft bolt

Ran into the same situation 10 years ago on my 91 MR2. Starter bumps wouldn't work, impacts , breaker bar, breaker bar with 16pound sledge hammer, heat. Nothing worked. Ended up cutting the bolt head off took ten minutes to carefully do it. Ordered a new bolt and moved on with my project.

What are others doing when their VAF’s go bad? ‘94 FZJ80

Before you start down the VAF rabbit hole check your codes. https://www.troublecodes.net/toyota/ If the codes point toward your VAF start looking for a replacement or repair If you daily drive your 80 and are not able to send yours away for repair. Used VAF's are getting very difficult to...

    Engine block paint colors

Used Duplicolor Gloss black for the block and red for the valve cover. The black looks great on the stand but really darkens the engine compartment. I do like the Cummins beige idea.

Newly Acquired 94 Land Cruiser Turbo

I got tired of beating everyone at the lights 😂. Until I find a standalone that can handle the weather of +40c to -40c (104f - -40f) I'll stick with na. It's not a Honda I don't want to drive with a laptop in the passenger seat.

Newly Acquired 94 Land Cruiser Turbo

Ran the stock injectors at first. Changed them out for some WRX injectors I had. I ran the stock dizzy. The emanage can do just enough timing that you can make it work. Used the stock airflow and the supplied map sensor. Ran a wideband to the emanage. It took me a week of my evenings to get it...

Newly Acquired 94 Land Cruiser Turbo

I did turbo my 93. With parts I had sitting around. I have reverted it back to na due to the extreme weather changes we have where I live, had to have like 20 different tunes to get me through the year. Stock ecu with a emanage ultimate (piggy back). Had it running great. Tons of power once it...

    Stripped bolt, extractor no joy.

Please don't weld a nut. Don't want to see a post about "What I should do with a burnt up 80" . Cut a slot with a Dremel or drill it out.

Dash reinforcement (what is it for?)

I have the exact same reinforced mount on my 93. Could be a radio mount that has always been my thought. We need to figure out what this is for?

    80 series knives

CRKT M16-14ZER Serrated, one hand open, seatbelt cutter and glass breaker. Doesn't see much usage but definitely worth having.

    Keep frying my fuseable link.

Had a similar problem when I first got my 80. Do you have remote start or a keyless entry that might be wired for remote start. Great place to start.

Whats the life expectancy of the 1FZ-FE

Bought my 93 with 250000 miles drove it home. 8 hour drive. I started rebuilding the engine the second I got it home ever thing was in spec tolerances were spot on. I just wanted to know what I would be driving. Plus this was the cleanest engine I had ever ripped apart "internally" she looked...

fj80 rear heater necessity or does removing make big difference

Today it's -38c, -36f for those south of the border. Any amount and location of heat is welcomed. I run heated seats and both heaters. Put your boots, gloves, tools, beer by the rear heater. Anyone in the back will love you and so will your feet.

    Supra fuel pump

Ran one on my turbo setup. I had a brand new spare that I needed up putting in my n/a for ease of not ordering a part. It's tons louder. But again I have no rear seats

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good

JB weld and a coat of bondo primer and some random green I had. Holes filled no issue. Doesn't affect the rugged drivable Landcruiser.

    Broken Camshaft What Next

Camera is a Autel mv400 I would love a diesel but can't justify the cost If I find a diesel for the same cost I'll put it in;). Same as an LS swap. Looking at swapping another 1fzfe to get my back going so I don't miss any more time this summer
