I found another fj40 for parts and was wondering how I could start it without the key. I can apply power to the starter and crank it, but do I only have to apply power to the coil for the spark.
Even if it doesn't run the frame and cowl are good and the windshield frame is rust free. Not bad...
I thought I had found a great deal on a parts truck, but when running it makes a knocking noise.
I am not sure what model it is, but the truck is a 1979, looks exactly like my fj40 and the motor is original. The last time the guy had it out he overheated it (it ran dry) let it cool down filled...
But what I would like some advice about is this one
it's a 78 with an excellent running diesel. Last fall got lifted springs, shackles, ft and rear lockers. $1000. I only want the motor, winch, and frame, and hope to recoup some money from the rest.
How many here tow campers with their fj40s. How large of a camper, far do you go?
I am torn between keeping my tow vehicle and selling it so I can pick up a diesel for an FJ40 I am about to build.
Currently I have a 15' tent trailer 1800lbs but am getting an 25' airstream this summer.
New here need help, I'm hooked
OK, I have to make a decision. I have been drooling over fj40's for a while now and have decided to take the plunge. I am not new to restoring old cars from the ground up so I am not afraid of a challenge. Enough of that.
I have a 71' fj40 lined up froma...
