    Broken rear axle, C-Clip removal?

I forgot to mention that I need to gain less than 1/16" to remove the !"/$%?& c-clip. I think a full-floater conversion will be on the way :wrench:

    Broken rear axle, C-Clip removal?

Hi, I just broke an rear axle on my BJ70 (CDN spec, rear semi-floater with C-Clip and ARB air locker). I succeed to remove the c-clip of the unbroken axle but can't push the broken axle stub enough into the diff to remove the c-clip. (The axle shaft has broke at the end of the inner spline so...

Anyone bought BJ70 quater panels from 4wheel auto?

I used the rocker panel and the rear quarter panel both side. And yeah, I'm pretty satisfied with what I've achieved with my BJ. Gonna be better with the OME Dakar suspension and the Marlin's Toybox ;o)

    BJ70 Birfield/Longfields

Digging out and old post. I've been out of the forum for a long time. I'll try to fix that in the future ;o) I've receive two private messages asking me what happen with the Longfield in BJ70. Well, it works! The axle housing is slightly longer on a BJ70 than on a BJ4* but the...

    BJ70 Birfield/Longfields

Thank Greg and coldtaco! I've checked at the dealer and the inner & outer axle are the same on a BJ70 and a FJ40 just as Greg told me in his answer. I'll order FJ40 Longfields set for my BJ70 and keep you informed when I'll get them and proceed with the installation. If it's not working, I...

Reverse failure on 6 speed manual tranny

I was already backing up when I put it in reverse (taking advantage of the "downslope" created by the end of my tracks (paths? tire paw? don't know how to say it but I'm sure you understand what I mean). Never had any tranny problem on my Subaru Loyal (365K Km and 385K km) and never on my Land...

Reverse failure on 6 speed manual tranny

Hi everybody, I was rocking in the snow tonight when a trouble occured with my reverse on my manual tranny. Passing from 3rd low to Reverse I heard a (worrying) gear noise. Then, when I put the shifter in the reverse position I eard a noise (not loud at all) but the truck was not moving...

    Front Diff Drop Kit ?

Well, The FJ don't has free hub. So the CV joint are always running... With, the lift kit, it is a good idea to install an unexpensive diff drop kit. I bought the one from ToyTecLift but, like my lift kit, its not installed yet. My week end project if that cold rain/thawing snow can stop...

    15" wheel fo FJ

Did anyone find a 15" wheel that fits on FJ. Mine did not clear the caliper. With my Tacoma 16", there's still about ¾" between the wheel and the caliper. I'm sure that a 15" wheel with the same design would clear the caliper. This would allow me to run my 33X10,5" Mud terrain... and...

What is the price of a LJ70?

I didn't said it can't. I said I won't. There's people running 44" on Dana 44, 36" on dana 30 and 35" on Suzuki Axle. I even seen a Full Sized Bronco on 44" with front Dana 30 and a 460 engine (7.4L)... It's the combination of Power, driving style and the tire size that breaks things. Don't...

    33x9.50/15's on stock 5spd BJ60?

Taller tire bigger guzzler. I just bought a second BJ70 and there were 33"X10,5" tires with a stock drive train. (H55F with 3,73:1 diff ratio) The cluth has blue spots on. 5th speed was use left often. Rebuilt of the 3B was necessary. Don't know if it's a cause to effect link. I've put...

What is the price of a LJ70?

I agree on the suspension. I agree on the off-road ability too. What I should have mention is that I never keep my off-roader stock. I wouldn't run 36" tires on LJ axles but would on BJ axles with aftermarket HD CVJoint. The LJ is a real good truck but not for what I do. Sorry if you...

    The rear locker hack

In slippery condition it could be great to use the H4 w/ rear locker to back up with less torque on the wheels... Going forward in L4 is not a problem, just select the 2nd or 3rd speed on the tranny.
