FJ60 rear drive line lengths? Early vs late length.

“Unloaded “ tires on ground no additional loadi load except roof rack , and Sliders and 3+ bumpers .. I had already shortened it 1/2 inch during the engine swap .. looks like another shortening is due. I’ll get the driveline out tonight to address the pinion endplay . Then photo and measure...

FJ60 rear drive line lengths? Early vs late length.

Yes , that’s what I thought. However .. when the rig is unloaded and observing the slip yoke depth of engagement into drive shaft, it is bottomed out. My pinion bearings in the third member have end play and a slight leak. A definite vibration occurs when in a non driving or deceleration...

FJ60 rear drive line lengths? Early vs late length.

Curious what lengths of drive lines were used on FJ60s ? I have an 86 and I believe I have an early driveline installed. I do have the late fj60 transfer case. Any information on different lengths would be appreciated.

    Diesel Fuel tank cleaning options

At any sign of water in my fuel filter / water separator , I drain my tank when it’s near empty to remove water from my tank. I’m not surprised any more when I see water in my filter. I try not frequent the fuel station that supplies dirty / wet fuel.

    1hz Oil Temp Sender

If your looking for accurate temperature of oil, a weld in boss on the oil pan would be the answer IMO. The port for the oil pressure sender with a tee and temp sender and pressure sender would be a dead end and would not reflect accurate temperature.

    Charging a 24V Battery System

No two batteries have the exact characteristics.. one will always be lagging behind the other. Especially if you have a 12 volt center load tap for any 12 volt accessories. I’ve fought this issue for years back in the old days with ski lift control system which are usually 24 vdc . I’ve had the...

    Charging a 24V Battery System

Yep I leave them on 24/7 . My applications are 12volt. So far so good with the 3.5 amp model.

    Charging a 24V Battery System

Just make sure the positive post you attach the positive lead to reads 24 volts to Ground with a volt meter . The other battery positive post will read 12 volts to Ground. If it is 24volt system the batteries will be wired in series.

    fusible links (help please)

The OEM fusible link plug arrangement is problematic. I now run a main buss and distribute power to load circuits via properly sized fusible links and fuseblocks to main wiring loom and accessories.

80/100W bulbs in my hella glass housings?

Test your voltage at the bulb when the lights are on and connected to bulb . Ideally the closer you are to battery voltage the better. Voltage drop through the supply wiring is expected but should be minimised with properly sized wire.

80/100W bulbs in my hella glass housings?

Buzzing relays indicate high resistance or low voltage to relay coil on either side of the coil. Or a faulty relay coil. when relays are buzzing check the voltage on the + side of the relay coil. It should be close to 12volts. If it’s buzzing I’m sure the voltage is low.

2nd Boiling Battery - Input needed

Yes this is how it should be done. My dual batteries are assigned to different tasks The starting battery just serves the starter circuits , glow plug circuits , ignition circuit and the electric fan circuits. The accessory battery runs everything else. The only parallel circuits are the bond/...

2nd Boiling Battery - Input needed

That looks like a fly back diode on the coil terminals . It prevents the excessive sparking on the control relay contacts . “A flyback diode is a diodeconnected across an inductorused to eliminate flyback, which is the sudden voltage spike seen across an inductive load when its supply current...

80/100W bulbs in my hella glass housings?

Remember when increasing wattage with your new bulbs you’re increasing current 100w / 12volts = 8.3 amps Effectively nearly doubling the electrical current in the headlight circuit. You may want to upgrade the headlight wiring to accommodate this increase in current.
