    Warn 8274

there appears to be plenty of room, it would mean building a cradle to suit. The only downside would mean removing a section of the grille to fit the winch motor - something I'm not that keen on doing.

    Electricity problem A/C

Did the Toyota techs hook up a gauge set to the A/C or just check in the sight glass? Toyotas have a low pressure cut out switch which drops the current to the compressor when the gas gets too low. it's usually located on the fliter/sight glass. Try by passinng this one. They run hi...

    1KZ series diesel engine question

4th revision, apparently (see my other thread). Apart from that glitch, it's a fantastic motor, will cruise all day on the speed limit (and beyond) The motor has been around since the early 90's in various forms. with a dump pipe, 3" exhaust and pigyback chip they perform quite well...

    Cracked Head

it's an '01 TX auto, i bought it with 95K on the clock, problem appeared at just under 100k. Vehicle had a complete service history from the previous (original) owner. No indications at all, it started to run rough and about 10 minutes later the temp shot up and it boiled.

    Hi mount winch

HI Tepui. The bar has the holes and slots to mount the winch, but no cradle in behind the bar. i have an M8274 Hi Mount sitting in the shed that i can't use at the moment, the bar would require some mods. i was curious if any one has done this. i'm a bit worried about the air flow into the...

    Prado Problem

Loose dash The dash is held in along the top edge by a bunch of plastic clips - which break off really easily. Have a look at 90scool.org - there's a description there in the 'Files' (become a member) on a fix of sorts. Mine rattles like a b!tch, need to do the repair.

    Cracked Head

Well, after a short burst of running rough, the temp shot through the roof. Off to the mechanic - cracked head, through the pre-combustion chamber in number 3. $3700 (AUS $$) later..... fortunately it happened a few days short of the statutory 3 month dealer warranty expiring and the...

How to build a false floor....

I've just completed a set of drawers for my (new) Prado. The 'wings' are piano hinged so it can easily slide out through the rear door, it mounts solidly to the rear seat mounting bolts.

    Lost and confused

Do you really need to remove the calipers or just replace the pads? To replace the pads, simply pop the spring clip and push the pins out, then slide out the old pads. Crack the bleeder nipple and force the pistons back, slide in new pads, replace the clip. It takes about 10 minutes a side...

    Got my Prado

Well, after lots of internet searching and driving a few dogs, I picked up my Prado today, involving 3 trips from Canberra to Sydney (700+ kms round trip). The 80 made its last trip, still with the random unexplained shimmy. Had a great return trip - Mmmmmm......cruise control. It's an '01...

    Hood rattle

rattles and squeaks Don't you hate those annoying noises!!! Body rattles can travel and be amplified to come out in the oddest spots. The 80 has had a squeak in the rear for years - as I cleaned out the crud to get ready to sell it - i found a shiny bottle top jammed under the cargo barrier...

    2nd hand 90's

2nd hand 90's: What to look for Hi all, i currently own an 80 that's due for an upgrade, so looking at 00 - 03 Turbo Diesel 90's, probably with an auto. Most of the ones I've seen advertised are around the 150-180K mark. Any specific problems to look for, apart from the obvious noises...
