I’d like to retract this statement.
The Cardones sucked soooo bad they didn’t even make 1 mile. A rotational clunking noise. I had to do double the work but I rebooted the OEM one with the other set of all pro boots I had. They didn’t tear… just not enough articulation I suppose.
Don’t do it...
Ahhhh ok. I didn’t know the actual cat could be welded. The connecting pipes sure, but not the main thing. I’ll take a quick patch over an expensive replacement anyday!
Yeah I saw the magnaflows, but I’ve read a lot of horror stories online about other aftermarket cats failing within the year...
Hiya, back with another question.
I've been doing my own research online and I've spoken to my mechanic but he's booked til next week.
I've been chasing an intermittent rattling noise for a few weeks now. I've also got a po430 code. The guys at the wheel alignment shop said it had an exhaust...
Thanks, whilst I did have a bent rotor shield, the sound did not go away. I lifted the front end and manually turned the tires. The clunking is def coming from my CV’s. I don’t know which one it is, but I assume it’s the cheapo Cardone HD one. I only expected it to last 1000 miles until I...
I have the time/space but damn, this feels like a crushing defeat. I just wanna drive my truck again..
Speaking of which, I checked google & YouTube for instructions on greasing the driveshaft. My friend, who helped me take everything off, also suggested it may be the driveshaft. I’m still...
Le’sigh
I’ll double check it and take it for another spin after I finish the rears tomorrow. Do you think it’s safe enough to drive on the highway? I can take it to an off-road shop for a diagnostic.
Thank you for the good advice each time
Good morning fellas,
I finished the front end suspension and drove it down my block. However I hear a popping sound coming from the front.. here’s a short video I posted on YouTube. Please help me diagnose the sound.
Heh, I try not to even open my sunroof anymore. I always wondered why my truck was so cold in the winter, and I couldn't pinpoint where the crazy wind noise was coming from. Turns out the sunroof didn't properly close last time I used it.. mine might be going down the same road.
Lemme know how...
In hindsight, I regret not creating a new thread and classifying it as *builds*, but oh well.
I've done quite a few things since my last update.
- I degreased, prepped, and painted the newly visible parts of the frame with por15.
- I got my eibach front strut/shocks assembled at The Custom...
Funny enough, I just finished replacing my driver side with this exact one, except I got it from rock auto for $69 + shipping. I rebuilt the OEM passenger side, but didn't want to deal with the mess so I just popped this one in. I'll keep this OEM one anyway to rebuild it later.
For anyone else...
No problemo! It took me a few hours to get all the correct info sorted. If it only helps one person, it was worth it. It’s the official Lexus parts website. The others don’t have the diagram so maybe that’s why.
Looks like I went deep into the suspension rabbit hole.. much deeper than we anticipated!
To be honest, I have a snowboarding trip planned for st. Patrick's day so I'm on a tight schedule to get the truck back on the road. I initially went down that route to get some pre-flared universal lines...
My buddy answered my SOS and we were able to whack both sides out within 3 hours!
Alas, I effed up a few things…
I need new brake lines. I cut the bracket attached to the frame with the elbow fitting, because the bolt was rounded off. Rest of the lines are rusty. Anyone knows the part numbers...
I don't know what any of that means. I just posted the follow-up to my saga. Are any of the parts I mentioned related to that?
Thank you for your quick reply & advice!!!
THAT'S NOT ALL FOLKS!
After more finagling with other "rusted welded" bolts, nuts, castle nuts on the driver side, I caved in & ordered a used steering knuckle off eBay. It was in excellent condition and came off an 04 with 227k miles with very little rust if any. Thats how I found out my wheel...
I'm back for a 2023 update on the build.
I'd like to preface this by saying I am NOT mechanically inclined, but I do love mechanical engineering. What started as a simple front brake upgrade has turned into a full blown suspension rebuild... my truck has been on jack stands for nearly a month...
I feel like a dumb***. It IS the fender liner. I didn’t think it was possible because the driver side is fine, but the liner is just a TAD BIT closer to the tire on the passenger side and hence why the sound is only on that side.
Thank you, I was so focused on the suspension needing to be...
