I think I didn't articulate this very well, the box is currently empty, it just moves up and down and the roof.
Upon further inspection, it appears that the movement is specifically at the joint where the slider enters the side rails on the OEM rack. Maybe a little bit where the actual bar...
I'm wondering what I'm missing here. Recently installed a Yakima roof box on my '00 with the standard (short) roof rack and OEM rails. The mounting points for the box are solid, but there is a surprising amount of flex/movement in the OEM rails even with the box unloaded, both while driving over...
Following up on this, thanks again for everyone's help, was dead simple after everyone's assistance. The resource I used is this:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/help-lx-stereo-wiring-clarification.903187/post-10137327
It clears up the wiring at the amp under the seat, which is a lot less...
Okay, got it, makes sense. Thanks for your help with this.
Sounds like my weekend task is to figure out the Nakamichi amp in/outs for the speakers.
A forum member graciously sent me the female end of the plug that feeds into the factory stereo dash harness, so that part is sorted. Now just...
Ah okay interesting. Looks like your install was in an LC and that the amp is different than the LX470 Nakamichi setup.
Am I understanding your post correctly when you say that you did not use the RCA outputs on the back of the HU at all and simply bypassed the amp at harnesses under the seat...
So, because I thought I knew how to do stereo installs and have had many successes in the past, I never thought about your question.
Here is something that will make me look real stupid, are the preamp outputs specifically defined as the RCA style plugs on the back of the headunit? Or are they...
Happen to have a link? I'm okay with running wiring from the HU down to the amp to pick up the speaker wiring, but I have to imagine I could bypass it down there, just cannot seem to find a diagram that shows the inbound speaker wiring.
Thanks, yea, I think that's the route I'll need to go with.
Can I ask high level how you went about it? Did you run the speaker wires from the HU down to the amp? Or were you able to do all of the work down by the amp itself?
I appreciate everyone's help with this on this thread and other threads on the board.
Finally getting to this project, and after the headunit install, all works fine, but there is a consistent static/pop from the speakers. I am retaining the factory Naka amp, and the sound is actually quite...
Thanks, Hagerty! I don't know the ins and outs of having them as an insurance provider for rigs that are used harder than mine, but for our LX, which is primarily a dirt bike hauler/forest road explorer/fun truck, they are great to work with and didn't ask any questions when I opted for OEM...
Yep, that's what I found. Normally that's my go to to verify installation needs. Crutchfield says:
Whomp.
Not that it's the end all be all of information, but it isn't as easy as a non-Naki unit, of which I do know there is an adapter harness!
Hello 100 series hive mind, I've read the threads, everyone has done a lot of great work doing research, and before I open up my center stack, I am hoping for a quick gut check from you folks.
2000 LX470, Nakamichi in dash changer, wanting to install a double din Android Auto head unit. Here...
I guess that's my point then. I'm not looking to argue with anyone about this, especially so when I am asking for free advice. But that sort of information you provided in the last paragraph is what the intent of the thread was. In my original post I stated my intended use, and I was asking for...
Hey there! That's actually the point of the brief. I'm sure there are things that everyone has purchased with whatever hobby that they find to not be an effective use of funds. Items purchased but only realized later are not useful.
I ride mountain bikes, and always tell people that you can...
Or $10k or $5k or $2.5k of essentials?
We've had the family 100 series for a while now, and with a quiver of daily drivers, I'm looking to shift focus onto the LX to finally get some work done.
It got me thinking, with the incredible range of options for these trucks, and most normal humans...
This should work for ya. I had a similar issue on another Toyota from around the same era and like most moonroof issues everyone pointed at the drains.
Turns out the usual answer isn't always the correct one despite what the internet believes. It took me sitting in the car with the headliner...
I think, like most of you, you would judge the quality of a forum by the frequency that you have to make posts to ask questions.
High frequency = difficult to search and/or lack of useful information
Low frequency = easy to search and/or a wealth of useful, actionable information
I would say...
