Do a full timing chain replacement with the kit. I looks like the PO didn't tension the chain to snug up the driver's side before tightening every up or the tensioner failed or even got loose. Good luck!
Make sure the guide is steel backed, at a minimum on the driver's side and not plastic. The steel backed guides lasts longer and when everything is installed, you have to tension the chain, most of the wear occurs on the driver's side. My original guide on the passenger side was hardly...
Like others mentioned above. I used a small flat blade screwdriver to separate the hub and gasket as well. The bolt method worked great here but we have almost no rust issues.
