For Sale Most recent 200 Series purchase prices

Ok so I’m not toooo crazy for getting mine. Today, I paid $62k for a 2016 with 80k miles. Bought in NoVA. Black with terra. Florida vehicle, 2 owners. Full service history shows Toyota dealer maintenance. I feel like I’m in the pack with pricing.

Mid-2010s 200 or newer Tacoma Trd pro?

Def need a vehicle. But don’t expect too many long drives. Blending in to some extent is important.

If I went with a 2013… 100k miles. Asking $39k. What maintenance would you all be looking at?

Mid-2010s 200 or newer Tacoma Trd pro?

Solid. This is why I come here. I’m working through some electric issues with my 100 which make me cautious of taking it there. The 200 I’m thinking about would be a 2013… and, I’m eye to eye with you on not being too flashy there. I’ve seen quite a few 14 and 15 200s on fb marketplace (but the...

I think that would be my regret… Cabin size. We’ve sat in the Tacoma (4 + dog). It’s tight.

Mid-2010s 200 or newer Tacoma Trd pro?

Really sound logic here. Given that I don’t intend to off-road it and family comfort is probably priority #1 for this, then the 200 seems like the better bet. But… should 100k miles 200 series vs an almost new Tacoma be a cause for concern? What maintenance cost are people seeing at 100k ish on...

Mid-2010s 200 or newer Tacoma Trd pro?

Great question. Prices are outrageous. I am eligible for US govt import exemptions, so buying there (as Guyana booms from Exxon’s oil discoveries) is not feasible. I had hoped it was… I wanted to try out a Japan Domestic/RHD ride for a few years.

Thx for the reply. Toyota is #1 in Guyana so no real issue with maintenance there.

Ha good catch. We plan to bring it back to DC area when done. Not a ship down to Guyana, dump, plan.

Mid-2010s 200 or newer Tacoma Trd pro?

Mudders, I’m stuck — in early 2023, I’m moving to Guyana (South America) for a couple years. Wife. 2 teen boys. Dog (German shorthaired pointer). I have a ‘99 100 series that we love. It’s generally reliable/our only vehicle/daily driver, but I want stress-free driving. With a budget around...

Cruiser Down: Tale of Heater T failure on a 100 series

Sadly, that makes sense — hotter metal and definitely not better just because it was steam (and not coolant), but somehow this rig weathered the storm. That 283*F was the last number I saw on the display as I got to the end of the proverbial kill chain. I heard a sound (hard to describe, but...

Cruiser Down: Tale of Heater T failure on a 100 series

No joke! I should’ve reached for the iPhone instead. My pulse probably matched that 283 when I looked at the scan gauge! But, as @flintknapper smartly said, that 283 was most certainly some air/steam reading. An experience I hope to never repeat or read about from a fellow ‘mud member.

Cruiser Down: Tale of Heater T failure on a 100 series

Good idea… I just gave it a look and it looks like I missed a good chance. I should’ve done this yesterday. Dammit. Missed a chance to capture some good info there. When I go to previous day now I see 105*F and .1 miles. I’m guessing the drive from the front of the service door into the bay at...

Cruiser Down: Tale of Heater T failure on a 100 series

Update: I write now at 2300 about 80 miles west of Sioux Falls as my wife pulls the last leg to the hotel for the night. I got the cruiser back late this afternoon, with the Tee replaced, a fresh oil change, fresh Toyota “red” coolant, a new thermostat (scan gauge shows the temp pegged at...

Cruiser Down: Tale of Heater T failure on a 100 series

Unfortunately another “trip” had occurred, I guess (driving into the shop from the lot?) I couldn’t figure out how to go back more than 1 past trip. 🤷‍♂️

Wow, my friend. I’m continuing to learn that the Tees are a no-joke item. Great job on that repair and thanks for the look at that past-its-prime Tee.

That makes a ton of sense! Steam. I hadn’t considered that!

Cruiser Down: Tale of Heater T failure on a 100 series

Great question… I never bothered to look, as odd as it sounds. Was so distracted with navigating the turns and then handling the crisis I didn’t bother to check (I focused on the scan gauge, saw the code it was throwing, and the temp). It may have been because I’ve been conditioned to know that...
