I have just completed my latest trailer project. I tend to like the late 40's style trailers. This one is a 1948 Ben Hur utility trailer model 22-47. These were made in Milwaukee and are very similar to the same vintage David Bradley trailer and others sold by Sears.
I picked this up at an...

I am assuming that this is a mechanical linkage one vs a throttle cable type? If so, I wonder what it would take to convert it. Can you send me a pic of where the linkage attaches?
Thanks Bellworx! I went the easy route and just moved the axle below the springs instead of on top. this netted me a few inches and the clearance to run the 31 x 10.5" tires on it. Springs are still stock from what I can tell. I removed them and cleaned them up along with the shackles and...
The trailer that you posted is virtually identical to one that I picked up and redid. It is a Converto model TC. Mine has a small brass tag on the front on the passenger side frame. Mine is about a 1948 model and apparently was sold as an accessory through truck and willys dealerships at the...
What about Friday night?
In the past there was an option for people to camp there on Friday night as well. Is that available this year as well?
Is there a headcount somewhere for the event?
Nice, I like what you did with it. I have a '47-'49 Converto just like that. (with the data tag) There isn't a ton of info out there about them. I put 31x10.5s on it , spring over lift and some sides as well as rewired it and paint. Planning on taking mine on its first real trip next week...
here is an option for you. Good reviews on their tires and the Guard Dog is almost identical to an older MTR. You can request a Goodyear sidewall too to match it. https://www.treadwright.com/p-55-285-75r16-guard-dog-m-t-d.aspx
Thanks for the offer. But I have to many other projects.
My progress has really slowed down. I bought a tub from down south and repaired the little bit of rear sill rust and it is pretty close to paint, I just can't decide which of two colors I want and have to come up with the money to...
Distributor?
My gut feeling is that it is in the electrical system but it sounds like you have tested everything possible. Out of curiosity, is the distributor stock? Is it tight and timed properly? I had one once that the shaft had warn enough that it was wobbling and would give me erratic...
Somebody go get this before I convince myself I need another trailer.

Vintage David Bradley Utilty Trailer, Great for Jeeps or Farm - $150 (Mukwonago)
These are nice old trailers with a lot of potential.
If it was me, I would pull the plugs and turn it over first just in case there is any oil in the cylinders. Oil won't compress, so its better to be safe than sorry.
The early 40s had a hood strip that made them look a little taller but the hood itself is the same size. the only difference was the early ones had a seam up the middle.
I'd have to agree, there is a lot of Bondo on that thing. Almost all of the body seams are filled in. Also looking at the inside lips on the rear top, they look like a good amount of rust was covered there too. When you go to see it, take a magnet and see just how much filler is on it.
