    yes heating the rivets and some how installing them is going to be the trick… maybe SOR know how. Also i see you mentioned a cutting torch, has anyone tried using plasma cutter for a finer cut or a large cutting wheel on a grinder? I also have to move the rear cross member to accomodate a 5...

    I do not have any idea of where to get rivets, what size as I am sure they are metric and don’t know how to heat and install.

    So I am going to replace a section of the front cross Member that also holds the steering gear box as someone hacked out a section to fit in a Saginaw gear box. I am going to grind out the rivets and replace the section with a used piece. What does anyone recommend using to replace the rivets...

    Started the one set of leaf springs today. Lots of grinding. Using a flapper disc works the quickest.

    Thank you for the explanation! I really appreciate that. I had not ever heard of a graphite paint or paint with graphite properties in it. But that totally makes sense.

    Ok. I have new motor mounts as I figured the rubber was old; 1965? Graphite paint. Is that the color or part of the formulation?

    Update: got the sawzall. stripped off the old brakelines, yanked the cobbled wiring harness, pulled the OEM engine mounts, pulled the leaf springs, and even took a set of springs apart! Big day! What type of paint do you all use for the leaves on the springs?

    By the way for you HAM types my call sign is KC5HUD. I haven't been on the air in awhile since the last hurricane took out my antenna, nearly destroyed my house in NC, and my dad with his Alzheimers can't get back on 160. I need to get the rig going again.
