I removed my budbuilt fuel skid in hopes the OEM skid traps less heat. It must. The budbuilt didn't have a mark on it from wheeling so I'm not feeling less protected if after all the wheeling I did, it never got hit. Now the 80 gets the tough stuff and the 200 gets the long trips and camping...
The EFI location in the fuse box had been bypassed with a fused wired due to having melted at some point in the past. The fused wire tested fine for continuity, it just wasn't getting enough voltage through. When they inspected the soldered connections from the original repairs many years ago...
Turned out to be a wiring repair from before I owned it that failed. The EFI fuse location had melted at some point in the past and it was bypassed with an inline fuse but the wiring job failed. I could say it wasn't done very well, but it held up for many years, so maybe it was just time. I...
Truck will be heading to a shop in Provo that @Cruiserhiggs recommended. It’s a few miles inside my 200 mile AAA towing limit and close enough to a major airport that getting back to it shouldn’t be terrible.
I’m now sitting at the Canyonlands airstrip awaiting my flight to Phoenix. It’s so...
That was actually my first call when once I had exhausted everything. My 200 miles of towing from AAA will get it to a shop in Provo… eventually. I’ll just fly home to Phoenix from Moab and then figure out how to get it home from Provo whenever it’s fixed.
We’re down to an unknown wiring issue or ECU took a crap. Not sure where to take it. Exploring trailer options to take it to Denver. All ideas welcome. All relevant relays, fusible links and fuses gave been replaced. No CEL in on position.
385,000 Mile Update; 7500 miles on the Engine
The rebuilt VAF (by Bavarian Restoration) is installed and the truck is running very smooth. The EGR has also been "Temp sensor test kit" fitted with the offering from HuddExpo (1993-1994 FJ80 EGR Temp Sensor Test Plug Kit -...
I suggest this spot in that area. Camped there last year before CM: 39.13876, -109.02661. and give yourself enough time to hit Colorado National Monument as well.
Had to do one last meeting at camp before shutting down for the week. Best zoom background ever.
Love camping in the 200...
Thinking about selling my Avid Cruisers rear bumper and ARB front bumper. Probably going to freshen it up with the Higgy’s bumpers if I can get these ones sold. PM me if interested. I’d like to get $2500 for the pair.
Picked this up from the store a couple weeks ago and liked the look...
I'll reiterate that everone should join TLCA and get the magazine, but I am posting this PDF excerpt here for posterity as part of this trucks history.
As mentioned in the article, I was dealing with some fuel boiling issues on the trip, but I have since replaced the charcoal canister and...
Update:
Mileage - Chassis: 384,500 Engine ~7,000
Upgraded RedHead steering gear leaked so it was replaced. The upgraded steering links/ends combine with the upgraded steering box is the best driving upgrade I have made to any vehicle beside gears. Its so tight, tracks straight and just feels...
The title says it all. I'm trying to find a set of gray cloth 2nd row seats for a 1994 80 Series. I'm in AZ and willing to travel to surrounding states to pick up. I don't need 3rd row seats or front seats, only the 2nd row.
