I’d be interested in a passenger side running board and fender/air intake, got a price for those? Also potentially interested in some axle related parts, just need to figure out which. Thanks
Cold for days. Doing as advised, and trying to think about what problems might rear up once the new cap is in place. Anecdotally, I've heard of it causing other leaks to go into overdrive. But considering it seems like we're going from high pressure to the right pressure I'm hoping that's not...
I think you're all right, with both problems (cap and a leak).
I haven't driven it in a few days, but I saw that it was leaking a fair amount of coolant under the driver's side of the radiator. A wet puddle on top of a dried puddle, I guess the day before.
I open the cap to see how much I'd...
Thanks for the sanity checks. I was half expecting a bunch of posts just saying "HG" as I've seen on other threads, but sounds like I am in the clear at the moment.
I'll check out all the suggestions. Interestingly, it's not leaking at all now, and coolant levels have been stable for the last...
Update & solution: I found that I had an aftermarket radiator cap with an out of spec pressure rating, and a number of leaky hoses including PHH, throttle body and others. I bought an OEM cap replacement and replaced pretty much all hoses (PM me for details if wanted), and it's been running...
Got a 97. I turned the key this morning, then heard it starting followed by a 'ka-chunk'. I try again, and it starts up fine, but when I hit the brakes after backing out they don't work with the normal pressure, and I have to jam down to get a response.
I'm scheduled to bring it into a great...
Great advice, thanks. Picking up Tacoma tools, bottle jack, and the Hi Lift plus attachments/replacement parts... three layers of backup to a functional tire, that's a bit of peace of mind.
Side note FYI, stock jack is on the order of $300 from Toyota.
I recently picked up a 2” lifted 80. I checked recently for emergency gear and saw that both spare tire tools and jack are missing.
1) My main question is, where can I get spare tire tools in a hurry? I have seen forum posts recommending various sites to order OEM 80 tools, look in Parting Out...
It took daily effort for 6 months and way too much money in inspections/Carfax, but I got an amazing ‘97 80. Thanks for the help, I appreciate the leads and advice.
Agreed completely with @ace10. I'm a prospective buyer and wouldn't touch this listing. I've dealt with enough aggro/withholding sellers for a lifetime.
(Fortunately I'm picking one up tomorrow if all goes well.)
That makes a lot of sense and seems pretty conclusive. Thanks for the input, both.
This is something I'm most likely going to need to do. If so, I'll follow up here with the before and after for posterity.
I've seen a number of threads asking this question, but I haven't seen anyone who has actually done it. The problem:
- There are a bunch of holes required for fender installation, the biggest of which is something on the order of 3.75 inches in diameter.
The proposed solutions so far:
- Don't...
No, but if you want to start a support group for people dealing with shady/difficult sellers, I am in.
(Edit actually for the record this dude is not shady, seems like a legit issue he’s working to solve)
So close to picking up my Platonic ideal 80... it's Carfaxed, inspected, and I was going to drive up today but apparently there's a title issue that needs addressing in the next ~week.
Long story short, I hope it works out, but still looking then.
The search is more of a lifestyle choice at this point.
@pussywhipped Thanks for checking in. Normally I'd be scared off by the 298K if the miles weren't put on there by me personally, but with the rebuild I'd be interested to learn more/see pictures if you'd send me a note. edit: just saw...
