I did, looks like I forgot to update this. I ended up running two stacked coolers in line with each other (the big 34 stacked plates) one up front and one remote in the rear, both with fans.
Never had an issue again towing my trailer.
I wouldn’t say super often, but -8C to about -10C is very common here. I have been looking at the recirculating heaters, I’d love to have the diesel hit operating temp on startup vs having to drive it around forever until it warms up.
I’m curious as to when the heater turns on (on the fuel primer). I had to replace the stock winter one (with heater) last year when my diesel fuel (20 percent bio diesel) froze / gelled at -10F. I didn’t have it hooked up at the time, not that I think it would have mattered with the truck being...
The rear of the truck would be awesome actually, I’d much rather plumb the lines back there to cool it vs hanging everything off the front like I have now.
Mine overheated with the 34 row (no fan at the time) it took a much longer time to overheat while towing and cooled off much quicker, but...
Mine is the full hydro unit, the 93s and above have that ability (electronic 442s). Unfortunately as far as I know I need the valve body to achieve 3rd gear lockup
I really should get towing specific tires, however it’d look pretty funny with the lift I have but it’d at least be functional. I’ve reached out to Cruiser Brothers for a quote on a valve body (sucks I can’t just outright order it from their site but such is life).
I installed a second 34 row...
My truck is a 92 HDJ81 with the full hydro A442F, running into some issues towing my travel trailer with it. I currently have a dedicated 34 row Derale stacked plate cooler attached to the transmission and disconnected from the radiator, I only run into heat issues when I am pulling the trailer...
Depends on where in the Gorge you are, there's a guy in The Dalles that does a lot of custom work on Toyotas (80s series included) if not, lots of LandCruiser fab shops etc... in Bend.
Correct, you just have to have it welded in (can't use the stock exhaust flange from the dump back). Mine fit, was just a little tight. He also makes an outside the frame version as well.
I ended up going with this one after I decided to go a different route with my installation. Not sure of the differences on the LHD version exhaust wise, but maybe ask him if he'd do one for LHD. Toyota Landcruiser 100 series 3" Stainless Steel Dump Pipe - 1HD-FTE - USA I know he makes the...
They must have fixed things between when you ordered and since I ordered mine last year, everything worked just fine (except I did have to clearance the bracket that the wastegate attached to, but not the dump. I did switch to a V-band CT26 dump though, so I didn't have the issues you had). All...
I have planted seat brackets in my SRT8, the ones I got are circa 2014 and have been in there since with lightweight seats. Zero issues, and perfect fitment. I was actually thinking about getting a pair for my HDJ81 to replace the seats in it, but maybe their quality has gone down over the years?
Getting parts is easy, most everything I order out of Australia takes a week or less to get here, couple days from Canada.
Insuring and registering isn’t an issue, the only issue I ever run into with is with cops when my passenger is texting (they usually come up to the ‘drivers’ side and start...
I’ll give that a go.
light went back out randomly (it was on during my drive) I disconnected and cleaned all the connectors (they were fine) yesterday. I can still engage the lockers just fine in 4low, the light stays on but I can feel them disengage and disengage like normal. It’s only the...
So, ran into an issue randomly while driving yesterday. My rear diff locker light turned on and wouldn’t go out. Pulled over and put the truck into 4wd low (center locker light came on like normal) placed the switch to F/R to lock up the diffs and the front one went solid after driving slowly...
I do, pre turbo. Granted at 13psi it’s not a monster but it’s far better than the truck was with the stock turbo, enough that I don’t have to smash the throttle to pass or when climbing steep grades.
I intend on adjusting the fuel before upping the boost. EGTs don’t seem out of whack, 350-400C...
Unfortunately that’s how it was routed when I bought it, and I’ve run it that way for almost a year. I didn’t think it looked right And fixed it when I installed the new turbo. I was second guessing it’s routing so I posted how it was setup before I changed it to make sure I didn’t muck it up...
