Is there a way I can possibly tell what year axle I have on my fj40 because I have a feeling one was changed at one point in its life
I have a 1966 with a 3 speed that possibly had a pto winch on it at one time if that helps

Ya i would look at the starter I had a csb that did that and we changed the starter and that fixed it plus if you go this route you can get a little thermal blanket for the starter that will prevent it from getting so hot thus making it last longer

Im looking to get a 1966 fj40 but im unsure about the purchase because I hear the brakes on these models are really bad. So then I went looking for a disk brake kit but the older fj's have the older style axels so you cant convert them to disks easley. so my question is do the new style axels...
