    Head gasket question.

So I started replacing the head gasket just as the pandemic started. As would have it, working from home, taking care of family etc. etc. my LC fell to the bottom of my 'to do' list. Im determined to finish the job in the next couple of months (fingers crossed). At this point the head is off and...

    Rear drive shaft removal

THIS IS IMPORTANT!!! Mark, (SCRATCH OR PAIINT) both flanges where they meet the rear diff and the transfer case. Also mark the front yoke that slips into the driveshaft. If you don't do this and you just put the pieces back together they will be out of balance!!! Super important!!

Best harmonic balancer puller holder design

Pretty neat!! I was gonna fab up something similar and then I remembered I had this. Wrapped the chain around the pulley, locked the handle and rested on the fan snout. Put the breaker bar and 30mm socket on and it came off without too much effort. Now I just have to find a torque wrench that...

    Head Gasket price estimate ?

I'm doing mine right now and with all the work involved I'm surprised by some of the prices I've seen on this post. If I owned the shop I wouldn't charge less than $3000+ I wonder if the reason you see so many blown 80 series head gaskets is that if it were done previously the rear head bolts...

Add on aux fan for fzj80

I believe that even if your cooling system is performing exactly as designed after 30 plus years on the road an auxiliary fan can’t hurt. Don’t use a thermostat just hook up a switch when you’re putting extra strain on your motor. You just may save it from overheating. Especially in this summer...

Time to vent (Solved and completed!)

Also grab the nipple with a pair of needle nose vice grips then heat it up. It should pull right out.

Time to vent (Solved and completed!)

Why not heat it up a bit to soften it and grab it with a pick to pull it out

    Cylinder head compatibility question

Eureka! Deathvalleypaul has a head. He asked that I make sure its compatible with my 96 1FZ. Its from a 94. He mentioned there may have been a part number change by Toyota. So Land Cruiser Gurus, will the 94 head work on my 96? Thanks all.
