I have kept this truck well maintained - within the last year or...
Installed a manual glow momentary switch in my BJ60 as per the FAQ here. (trying to resolve smokey starts)
I asked for 10.5v plugs but the shop gave me 14v plugs. I had 3 installed before I noticed so carried on.
What are the issues with running 14v plugs rather than the usually...
I need to chase the threads in the seat mounting locations on the body in order to get the passenger seat bolted back into my 60 . . . does anybody know the specifics so that I can pick up the correct thread tap?
Thanks in advance!
I had the same problem the other day however mine is a 3B not the 2F. No idea if the same thing could apply to the 2F?
Anyways I had the exact same symptoms and intermittent . . . turns out it was a faulty ignition harness. Replaced that and problem solved.
Just though I'd throw it out there...
Primer pump was in fact leaking, replaced with a new unit. Replaced fuel filter as well.
Truck started much better this morning, first try and no bouncing idle. Still some white smoke although not quite as much it would seem.
I tried to listen for the second click from the glow system...
I'll check glow plugs toady as a start and see where I'm at. Like I said I haven't owned the truck too long, so far all fluids have been replaced - air filter is new.
No service history on injectors and no clue how old the fuel filter might be . . . I'll replace the fuel filter this weekend...
It doesn't seem to - after 4 or 5 hours at work it fires right up with little to no smoke. It's only after sitting over night. If sitting for 2 days it's even worse I would say.
Weather is mild/warm here right now so on a colder day maybe the issue would surface after 4 or 5 hours I don't know.
I'm hoping you guys can help me diagnose a recent issue with my 3B ('82 BJ60)
recently it has been smoking a lot more on startup - more and more with every day that passes it seems (this morning white smoke filled my yard). Smoke goes away after about 20 seconds.
It is also very hard to...
For anyone reading this down the road the problem at the end was the shift-leaver "seat". Mine was worn down to the point that it was not holding the shift lever at the correct height to allow easy shifting. No idea how this came to light at the exact time I took it all apart but whatever...
Ok this worked! Well it got me closer. Thanks inkpot!!
I can now shift through all of the gear 1 through 4 however reverse is being difficult. I can manually depress the round cylinder by prying it to the right with my screw driver and it feels like there is the right amount of resistance...
Alright I got some pictures. Sorry for the redundancy in the pictures, wanted to make sure you guys could get your bearings.
And one of the truck for good measure
Thats possible. The weird thing is it seemed to shift alright when I was playing around with it but if I went into reverse then it was game over.
I'll see if I can get some decent pictures to post - I don't even know what "slot" I should be aiming for.
I removed my shift lever in order to install new carpet in my 60. Simple enough, removed the boot and pushed the collar down and turned counter clockwise until it released. Easy.
I went to install it - opposite of removal - and after getting it all back together my truck won't shift!
I...
Not that this helps you but I'm running 31" tires on my BJ60 and getting about 8.75 l/100km at about 95km/h. I personally wouldn't go any bigger than 31" with stock gearing. Maybe 32s but I would stay away from 33s without a regear - that's just me though.
