Great to see KC represented this year at SAS! This started out as a laid back event but continues to grow each year. My brother Jim, he son McGuire and a group from Texas started this event. First year we had maybe 20 trucks. It has grown fast and now is limited to 75 trucks. Saw here...
If you can source a passenger side seat cover, it will work mounting on the driver side. Did this for a 60 series. Assume the 62 would be the same? Passenger covers always seem to be in better shape.
The pump did seem to operate louder at altitude but is acting normal now back on flat ground. It was loud as we were trying to restart the truck. Seems to be having venting issues only at altitude under extended loads. What could be causing pressure to build in the gas tank under these...
This seems to be the official Sniper thread so wanted to share a hiccup to see if anyone had any ideas. Have been running the Sniper for about 2 years with very favorable results. This past week driving from KC to Ouray, we experienced crazy AFR values (mostly high red) with a poorly running...
My Brother in San Antonio was one of the original organizers for SAS and is active on their Board so I should know in advance when signup begins next year. Last year they had a pod cast describing this year's event with signup beginning immediately after the call. The event was filled within a...
I might bring my 200 next year with a dual sport in tow. They don't seem to be sticklers as there is a 100 from Texas who has participated last couple years.
Probably you were seeing the Solid Axle Summit (SAS) trucks running the trails around Ouray. If not familiar with this newer event, I would highly recommend putting it on the cruiser bucket list. Typically first weekend in August. This was year #6 for SAS and it keeps getting better. Home...
Like dbleon said, if the rig is lifted, check to see if caster shims were added to correct the caster angel. I just added 4 degree shims this weekend after 3 years of driving on an OME 2" lift with 33" BFGs. Adding the shims made a noticeable difference in how the steering tracks.
SEM makes a texture spray to replicate the grain. Can spray it on as is for a tight grain or sand lightly to flatten. Probably won't come out exactly like OEM but does look good. Here is a pic after texture was applied. Again, you can lightly sand this to achieve a flatter grain.
Just went over 185k on the 200 and still solid as new. That is 35k more miles what's showing on the odometer in our '83 FJ60. Proof these FJs can go long in the miles and years. Only thing that can stop them is rust.
I have been running 91 on my Sniper from day one over 4,000 miles. Yesterday getting gas I threw in 87 as 91 was not available. Actually thought engine ran as good if not better with 87 octane? I have had a slight hesitation at times accelerating that did not show up running the lower grade...
I recently replaced OEM power steering pump with a City Racer which I believe are made in China. I heard these were not as good as OEM but took the chance. Seems to be slowly leaking at the cap as fluid accumulates on rim of top. Worth trying to mend or time to go the Saginaw route?
Helpful video as my radiator failed as well at 176k. Took over a week for the OEM radiator to arrive which was annoying. Dealer said they needed 5 hours and $800 to install. Looks more like 2 hours or so to me?
Should we add any transmission fluid to the new radiator prior to install or is...
Like the original post, I'm looking to lift the front end maintaining factory ride after adding ARB bumper. This was added primarily for deer protection as I'm often driving at night in rural areas. The bumper seems to have dropped the front about an inch form stock height. Planning to add...
