My cruiser has been sitting for about a year, and I'm getting ready to sell it. The negative battery lead was bad, so I replaced it. Now my dome light, gauge lights, parking lights, and brake lights are out. Any ideas? I've never had issues with them before, and the fuses are still good
I've been away from my '87 60 for almost a year, now I'm trying to get her running again:
I had some trouble with cylinder 5 firing before I left, and now when I try to start it, the starter will slowly roll, then not move. I'll go again, and it might catch well, then stop again. Then after...
Ouch, I think I know the sound. Kind of a dull scraping noise? I had a few years back, my T-case was shot. Try flushing your T-case. The folks who owned my '60 for its first 18 years never checked the T-case fluid. Was a real bummer to have to stick a new one on
Hey I saw you guys. My dad and I were in the stock yellow FJ Cruiser when you guys stopped on the bridge. We ended up on trail 4, nearly had a few heart attacks, but came home with only a few dents in the skids. Definitely need different tires.
I would definitely go with the carb rebuild. My 60 exactly what yours sounds like, but after I rebuilt the carb (I HIGHLY suggest you fork over the $$$ to Jim C rather than do it yourself-"never again" is my motto) it runs like a dream, no starvation/sputtering
yeah there was an FJ55, Fj40, and FJ60 in a new Knight Rider episode a couple months ago. They had a chase between Kit and an FJ60...takes some suspension of disbelief to believe there was a competition...
My inspection went out in September of 07, but my rig wasn't running at the time. I just recently got it up and running, do I still have to pay the $250 fine for letting the inspection go out?
Well some fluids are cloudy by engineering, but there's a very distinct muck cloudiness. Run the fluid through your fingers. Does it feel gritty? Then you definitely need to flush your t-case. In my case, my t-case was completely filled with mud (which, turns out, doesn't make a great...
That's how mine always was, and wouldn't "cruise" despite the name, it was always jumpy, so I rebuilt the carb and now I feel like I've got a brand new rig. I can hardly keep it from running away from me
Hey I'm putting my carb back together and lost the pictures. Can someone go take a picture of their carb linkages? I got everything except the ball-joints and springs at the back, so a close-up of all the sections of the back would be great, thanks
I always use regular, I've seen no drop in mpg/performance or any engine hiccups. A lot cheaper too. I consistently get 20-21 mpg, and that's with the occassional H3 drag race
Yikes! The new FJ just hit 20,000 miles, I think I'll take a look at the rear diff this afternoon. What's the best type of synthetic to put in it?
I'm especially concerned because my '87 60's rear diff is almost stripped, looks like the work of severe grinding, and I'm an easy driver. Maybe...
So here's a dumb question that hopefully someone can answer, where the heck are mounting bolts on my carb? I've disconnected everything else, I just can't find the &%$# mounts
