    BJ60 Restoration/Rejuvenation

I finally got all my panels sandblasted and learned I still have a decent bit of metal work to do on most of the panels. I Did some surgery to combine two good halves of a fender to make one whole good fender. Welding sheet metal is tough for this hack. I did what I call a “super good...

    BJ60 Restoration/Rejuvenation

Well it’s been a helluva year for me, but there’s been very little movement with the project. My unemployed girlfriend is now an employed fiancée… Score!! Got some parts… Fender and headlight bezels from Georg at Valley Hybrids @orangefj45 : ARB bumper from @7toy9 Thanks for the parts—guys!!

    Snicklephritz87 - 60Series Restomod - Home garage restoration

Hmm… it’s not very “restoration mindset,” but…. the area that is rusted around your windshield frame appears to be an area that is actually covered up by the windshield gasket, so… I think you could try your hand at cutting out the rust and doing your best to hammer form sheet metal to weld...

    Snicklephritz87 - 60Series Restomod - Home garage restoration

I remember seeing that one for sale at some point. Definitely a project, but that’s the point! Honestly, if you can get through the metal and body work, everything else will feel easy by comparison. Have fun and good luck!

    BJ60 Restoration/Rejuvenation

Hah! I wish :p I haven’t worked on it since the last post from October. It got cold around here overnight, and I don’t have the best garage heating system. Plus the skiing is starting to get good. I did locate a replacement tailgate that’s in better shape than mine, so that’s a win, at least...

    BJ60 Restoration/Rejuvenation

I got the first bit of primer down last night just in time for the cold that starts next week. I used the Eastwood epoxy primer and it seems to be pretty good for the price. No complaints here. This is my first time ever using an HVLP set up to paint, and lessons are being learned. I already...

    'Topping Off' front end?

Good advice from both of you—thank you!! Icertainly did not use the centering tool but I’m fairly certain I reused the shims where they were (no guarantee they were good to go to begin with). I’m pretty up to my neck in a repaint project, but I will check into this more once that’s squared away.

    'Topping Off' front end?

Sorry for a bit of a thread hijack, but I have a question regarding those axle seals and it may help anyone who reads this thread. I did my knuckles/inner axle seals about 5 years ago using marlin ecoseals and a trail gear knuckle seal kit. Things were good for a while, but I’m definitely...

My FJ60 has a fully boxed frame, PO replaced the C frame with fully boxed.

Honestly, it’s probably super good enough and not worth overthinking as @sedonut said, but you may want to look into installing a replacement rear cross piece or fab something to replace the rear cross piece that @MarkBC pointed out. Maybe just a cut of C channel bolted and/or welded between the...

    Wanted  NV/NORCAL - WTB FJ60 Fenders

Hi all, I’m located in Reno NV and am looking for some decent FJ60 fenders. Any color will do. Condition doesn’t need to be perfect, just can’t be rusted out or overly dented. Thanks, Garrett

    Abandoned 84 FJ60 gets some love, and a 4bt!

Looking good! Which sound mat did you go with? Also, IIRC, you need to pull off the center horn button (the whole thing) then you can unscrew the nut. If the wheel is tight, unscrew the nut most of the way, yard on it until it loosens, then take it off.

Nice work catching that rust. Welding sheet metal is tough enough as is, but welding rust-damaged metal is sooooo annoying since it’s so easy to blow through.

    3B Pushrod worn out?

@2mbb nailed it. Gotta adjust those suckers using a feeler gauge. No fret, it’s an easy job, and these engines are forgiving if you get it ‘super good enough’ Do you have a shop manual? If not, I could take a picture of the pages for you.
