    Leaking transmission fluid

Your rear main would leak motor oil. See if you can narrow it down like you said by cleaning it. I'm not sure powerwashing is necessary. Maybe a bottle of cleaner and a bunch of rags. Just for s***s after clean fire it up and let it idle. I spotted from the pan by doing that and just...

TPS and ISC explanation in relation to the throttle plate and spring. FJ62

Hey @Godwin , @Spook50 indeed cable replaced. spring on the pedal is okay and not binding. Took it off when replacing the cable. It occurred to me today that the old kickdown cable used to provide some extra tension. I added an extra spring so the soft peach of a gas pedal is now gone but so...

TPS and ISC explanation in relation to the throttle plate and spring. FJ62

Well, started another thread because this was another question. my dashpot was broken so it served no purpose whatsoever. So, of course if grabbing the throttle by had worked I would not have posted this. I guess at a traffic light I could jump out and try but gee, never seems to safe...

TPS and ISC explanation in relation to the throttle plate and spring. FJ62

So I ask this because in spite of changing the throttle cable the truck still has what I call an idle issue. Maybe I am mis-labeling that though. The truck will not return to normal idle after pushing through all 4 gears (converted to 4 spd) Most of the time I will have to tap the accelerator...

FJ62 high idle back with a vengeance. Update, new mystery, 2nd update.

Thanks @pithicus I will give that a try. When you mean a stronger spring you added a spring in addition to your existing springs? The TB spring would be a bear to replace. I was thinking about adding another return spring where the kick-down cable used to be.

FJ62 high idle back with a vengeance. Update, new mystery, 2nd update.

New cable, added small spring to throttle. Problem still persists. For those in the know...is there something other than the mechanical throttle that could keep the throttle open? I can still blip it to drop the idle. I can even blip it while in gear and I can feel the idle drop if say I am...

    FJ62 “Carb” Cooling Fan

I would like to reverse it somehow and make it blow hot air out through the vent. I can't imagine the thing does any great service to the FI engine.

    Air chamber torque values??

I can't remember where it is in the boox, I think the Emission section. Look in the backish. There is a table based on bolt and nut size and it gives the recommended torque.

FJ62 high idle back with a vengeance. Update, new mystery, 2nd update.

Yep, me too, have done both. Still mixed results. It may be the cable, maybe not though. It may be I need a stronger spring or something to help snap the butterfly closed definitely every time. I have to play with it some more.

FJ62 high idle back with a vengeance. Update, new mystery, 2nd update.

Out driving just now. took it around the block a couple of times, finally got it to resting idle a1 1k. I was 2 blocks from home. Managed to keep the idle at 1k. Backed in the drive and jumped out and went futz around with the tb return spring but it was set in place and the throttle cable...

FJ62 high idle back with a vengeance. Update, new mystery, 2nd update.

Right, like maybe the pedal is returning back to normal position but still the cable is pulled slightly to keep the butterfly open just a tiny bit. It seems hard to imagine with those heavy springs in place but you are right it does seem to have happened to more than a few of you.

FJ62 high idle back with a vengeance. Update, new mystery, 2nd update.

Thanks for the help fellas. It always is something stupid. I will keep looking. I guess if I had to put in a new throttle cable just to be sure that would not be the worst.

FJ62 high idle back with a vengeance. Update, new mystery, 2nd update.

Oh yeah I checked the dashpot alright. I removed that POS when I removed the erg. It was non functional anyway. The truck is now a 4speed too, so no auto trans to worry about.

FJ62 high idle back with a vengeance. Update, new mystery, 2nd update.

Took Tb apart and cleaned again. Blew out vacuum lines just in case. Installed and calibrated the TPS, retested, still good. Took ISC off again, still cleaned, but cleaned again. Ohms were to spec, still could get not consistent movement, at least not visibly. Even adjusted the bump stop so...

AT Transmission cooler... help me pick?

Yep. The Hayden works great if you are cruising down the road at normal speed. A fan would cycle to help keep cool. Not sure about the low flow or how it was determined but even at idle my A440 would quickly empty the transmission.

Nada, thought or hoped that was it too.

That's been my experience so far as well. This seems to be just the opposite if it is indeed a vacuum leak.

Yep. Chasing electrical problems is always fun too. I completely forgot about the temp sensor though.

FJ62 high idle back with a vengeance. Update, new mystery, 2nd update.

I did, but not since this latest incident. I will do that again this week for sure. I need to take out stock in TB gaskets. This is one of those frustrating things to try and chase down.

No vacuum leaks I could find. Is there another way to check for leaks say other than the propane torch method? I can't imagine why a leak would suddenly develop that could be solved by hitting the throttle. But I will try again.
