    The hole itself measures 30 x 40 mm if I remember well. I did cut a corresponding piece of stainless steel of 2 mm thickness. Then used four 5 mm bolts along with RTV sealant. Very easy. This is the hole from the inside. The arrow marks forward. And this is from outside, below:

    Best battery terminals to organize all the crap!

    A DIY alternative is to use copper bars with enough cross-section (3 x 30 mm in my case), along with common reinforced terminals. Just drill and tap as appropriate for the ring cable terminals you want to fasten. I used M6 and M8 bolts. The red tint is sprayed Liqui Moli 3141.

    Steering wheel "squeak" when turning left

    At least in my 1994 HDJ 80, the horn contact in the steering wheel is through a brass track which rubs against a mating brass pin. The pin becomes wasted and shorter over time, and in the process it starts making noises. Checking this is easy, just remove the steering wheel. I attach some photos:
