Tim, make sure you QC stuff while panels are tacked then have the welder finish welding when a checklist of each seam is verified as good fit. Like how they build bridge beams in a shop.
……Update……finally had time to look at this closer. Odometer working great again. Just took the unit out and flicked it with a small screwdriver. Drove it around all day and back to normal. Should be good for another 45 years! Probably just a little stuck from not driving for awhile - pretty...
Anybody have an odometer issue? My odometer is currently stuck on 87200. The tenths of a mile column keeps spinning so I guess the cable is still good. Wondering if those can just have the glass taken off and with a small screwdriver just give it a little nudge ?
Worked good just ran a 7/16”x20 die down the stud. The slightly smaller die cut in some nice threads. Plus the standard castle nuts are about a 1/3 the price of the ridiculously overpriced metric nuts
I think Toyota used steel with just so many impurities. My internationals just unbolt no problem. Usually my Fords are pretty good too. Yeah not a bad idea with the bolt, I’ll try that if the rethreading doesn’t work
I’m surprised not to hear anyone else have an issue with shocks. These FJ40s were built with the worst steel back in the 70s. Maybe everyone is from the south ?
I suppose I could obtain a bolt like that if I can’t thread the stud with a 7/16th die. Cut and weld something. Just didn’t want to make a big project out of it
