1. Does using choke help the truck run better?
2. What was the course of events that led up to rough running? Carb change, spark plug change, etc?
3. Have you done a lean drop using the correct screws on carb? If so how did you do it?
4. Solenoid you're mentioning won't affect running as it...
If you connect the solenoid to +12v source on coil or even direct to battery to test, will the truck run smooth again?
I need to make a test thread if your truck runs like s*** because I feel like I post these questions three times a week.
1. Let us know how truck runs once you give the...
These were maxxis Razr MT, 33x10.5. I enjoyed them, I only put about 10-15k miles over a summer on them, between pavement, dry and slick rock, heavy heavy mud, torrential downpours and dry/dusty trails....they did great! The mud cleared out very quick.
See above
Ha! You aren't kidding....with...
Fuel looks rather low in sight glass...
1. Is the fuel cut solenoid clicking repetitively with key on when you disconnect and reconnect cable?
2. Is fuel in middle of sight glass?
3. Does choking the engine help or no major change?
Try castrol 20w50 classic, according to data sheet, it is about 1400 ppm.
In regards to lid, which lid, air cleaner lid or carb hat? I have the carb hat for the 71-74 style, you'd just need to find the air cleaner lid that matches your manifold.
FYI, factory temp sensors need to have a clean contact with ground threads for reliable readings, hard to say if you'll have an issue but the threads don't/shouldn't have thread tape.
This always cracks me up, we can't see where it is leaking because we can't see the car....You've got to get under/above the motor and look for wetness/dripping. Get a rag, follow every coolant line in/out of the radiator and along the motor and look for wetness, it will be evident if it was...
Haha for me it is usually 5 minutes and because I already see the failures! Quick and easy, the failures are at the connector housing and fail due to vibration/removal. Reflow these points and/or add solder and be on your way. Perhaps its my young eyes as well...but reflowing isn't hard on...
Folks usually toss these, I'd just find one with good ports and swap cover to yours or swap entirely.
Since the cover is cast aluminum, I can't tell if it has a brass/copper vac port underneath, if it does you could extract and press in a new port with some tube, I do that often with carb bases...
Also yanked the narrow c&c dually rear end for the full width Dana 70, yanked the 3rd out of the old diff and cleaned it all up and stabbed under the truck.
Still just doing my 70mi daily commute, truck is doing great. Took a small break and ran up to Spokane/Coeur d’Alene for a ve-pump motor. Decided to stop in Pendleton for a burger and a beer…one of my last decent burgers and beers until after Singapore.
To say i bought the motor partially...
Still waiting on rear spacers - likely they won’t go on until after Singapore.
Ran up to Spokane/Coeur d’Alene to buy a VE-pump motor, hopefully can get this stabbed in place in the next month or so once I’m back. Since I’ve got a few days before I leave I stopped off in Pendleton for one of...
This is confusing - if the QLD fella has issues, he has a 1 wire solenoid and the ground switch issue doesn't apply, so just supplying reliable power should resolve.
But the other fella with a '79 needs to open up the computer, and reflow all the connector solder points, quick 5min job to...
Since the mixture screw is the same setting from factory and you can't get it to idle, something was installed/setup incorrectly during rebuild. I wouldn't recommend chasing the mixture screw as the factory setting will be more than sufficient to have the truck run.
Items to check before you...
