SOLD  Monteagle, TN: 1998 Toyota Land Cruiser

Not sure what is a reasonable price for this -- has over $10k in recent work put in but I know that matters little at the end of the day. If I can get that out of it, that would be good. A Google drive w/ >200 photos is at the end. GOOD: Mechanically SOLID — was being used primarily as a...

Weird low whistling / whine / rubbing from engine increasing in pitch and frequency w/ increasing rpm -- almost sounds like a train whistle?

Serpentine belt was worn so had that and pulley tensioner replaced -- drove it home and started hearing it again so will need to continue looking :flush:

Weird low whistling / whine / rubbing from engine increasing in pitch and frequency w/ increasing rpm -- almost sounds like a train whistle?

LOL I wish! definitely coming from under the hood and can now easily replicate it, it's much louder w/ the hood up. doesn't seem to be obviously coming from the serpentine belt but haven't removed it to test. maybe tensioner pulley.. going to have someone who knows what they are doing look at it.

Weird low whistling / whine / rubbing from engine increasing in pitch and frequency w/ increasing rpm -- almost sounds like a train whistle?

Hey everyone, Getting a weird sound seeming from the engine as RPM increases. Sounds almost like a train whistle on/off again. Not the same as the usual engine whine. haven't listened under the hood while parked as I wont be home for a bit. maybe alternator going bad? assuming it is a belt...

Fuel Gauge Updates but Sticks After Ignition

Fuel gauge updates on ignition to read correctly but does not go down with gas use and sticks after the truck is turned off (until fired up again -- can't remember if that is normal). Since it reads correctly on igntion I am guessing it is not the sender .. probably electric then? or am I way...

    No CEL when turning on

I think I know the answer to this but just want a quick verification: Had some work done in response to a CEL. Came back on a bit later and got more done. now the CEL doesn’t light up when the battery goes on— it should, right?

yall have some great looking trucks! LC envy over here. Yes, it was! Generally they import most cars from Japan (think ***ushima area . . . . . .) and from Korea, with cars from the US being the next largest import. An enterprising group of Mongolians make a nice buck off of importing old...

The MUD 100 series Photos thread

that would have been awesome, but unfortunately no -- I realize I should clarify, the Georgia pic is Georgia in the US (not the country!) the Mongolia pics are from weekend/long weekend trips that friends and I took around the country. I was working in the capital city but tried to get out to...

thank you! the ending is the province and a series letter. so in this case they are "UBP" which means they were registered in the capital city (its own province) of Ulaan Baatar, and I guess they were registered in the same year or at least close to each other (series P). there are only about...
