    The one ton swap thread

After Looking at those roll over pics makes me question taking the family in the truck on the trails.... but caging it adds all sorts of other problems. I also track BMW's and for perspective on the safety of modern vehicles vs this vintage, a modern M3 is 2.5 times stronger in a roll over than...

    Nitro gears: 4.88 or 5.29?

5.29's and a turbo is good with 40's otherwise going to be slow.

i am low 180's in the winter so far. have not ventured far with the truck since install but temps do increase a bit when I step on it. Have an old TRAD which is at least 10 years old and have a new koyo ready when it gives up. I also have a vented hood which lets lots heat out. I am still...

Supercharger vs Turbo vs Engine Swap?

I have really been happy with my turbo 1fz. Even on 40's its quick around town and I am sure faster than most stock toyota trucks/4runner.

also keep in mind e85 on its own isnt going to do much. You need to tune for it to get any benefit. If you are going standalone ecu for fueling you could probably do it. My experience (or reading) is on the BMW forums where guys are making monstrous power on e85. Even on modern engines there is...

    Wits End Turbo Owners

I didnt read that thread but e85 is going to open a can of worms. Not sure how an old 80 series would fare. You need way more fuel because of energy density so the fuel pressure has to go way up, oil gets contaminated so more frequent oil changes, no lubricant in e85 so injectors fail, plus...

    Has this happened to others?

I had one back out. they were original and had been removed a few times. The nut is serrated so if you tighten it instead of the bolt you will strip it.

Poll: What size tires are you running?

a bit of power steering (rust proofing) and coolant. my old TRAD isnt happy when the temp drop past -20c. Have a new koyo to go in once the garage is cleaned up enough to roll it in. Coopers are great on the snow in 4x4.

Poll: What size tires are you running?

5.29's in the diff, 25% low range reduction, RCV's and Aisins up front, turbo for the highway. Have shredded the ring and pinnion before. 40's crawl better than the 37's I used to have so less skinny pedal needed. Will look at RCV's in the rear at some point.

    6” or 4” 35” or 37”

37's and 3 to 4 inch lift. with castor correcting radius arms like slee or delta and appropriate bump stops in the back you will be fine and not need any cutting. cutting comes once you go bigger and to a 13.5 inch wide.
