You certainly can, but in my experience installing and working on pertronix pickups, if you're going to have problems, you'll have them within minutes of starting the engine. If the vehicle makes it out the door, most likely nobody will ever even think about taking off the distributor cap...
Recent life events have had me needing another trip up to the wilderness. My good pal Ron, has agreed to go with me back up to the Ishi again. This time we're headed to a homestead called Facht place, which is lower on antelope creek from our last 2 outings. McClure place, and Fischer camp...
Sometimes I feel the same way, I run myself ragged doing all of the things I want to do, plus all of the things to pay the bills. The alternative is being bored until you croak. Go sieze the day!
There's also a grease zerc in the 4x4 linkage. If you or someone else has changed the steering shaft u joints, the replacement parts may be greasable.
+1 for driving it, vs tearing it down for an overhaul...
Keep using that grease gun and you may never need the frame off...
I had a friend do this to his res tacoma. A trailer was not an option, so we went to town and came back with 2 ball joints.
Beat them in and out with a hammer, and was able to drive the truck to my house to button up a proper repair.
I can't imagine how it must feel to have a front wheel decide...
I got one at my dealer for about $70 within the last year. I find now that I've been playing with landcruisers for a while that there's no shortage of people willing to buy parts from Toyota motor company and then sell them to you for more.
Most of this stuff is still very available and there's...
Last week I got the wild idea to pull the transmission cover on the parts rig. Once it was removed, I noticed that there wasn't a whole lot keeping me from pulling out the transmission. Driveline were already gone. So I set to work to have the trans out by sunset, and I did.
Hardest part was...
I ended up misdescribing the problem
The blinker didn't turn on, and the 2 rear bulbs did, but didn't blink due to having too light a load.
Once I cleaned the ground for the front left blinker, now it turns on, and blinks. Both sides, same speed too. I also tightened a ground on the right rear...
Yesterday I took apart my steering wheel, pulled it, removed my blinker switch, and cleaned all of the contacts. The main one that needed work was the high beams. I cleaned contacts, then re-tensioned the contacts, greased all moving parts with a small tube of dielectric grease I had. Now the...
This week, I used the FJ55 to take tomato starts out to the garden, then irrigation tubing. I got 2 rows of tomatoes planted, a row of watermelon and a row of cantaloupe. They're 100' rows, so we're going to be well fed this year.
Don't be the guy who slaggs on 15 pounds. of welding rod to keep the winch in place. Not that long ago, I had to cut a winch off of a willys and it took me something like an entire 8 hour day with a die grinder and 12 pound hammer to break out all of the welds and free the winch. Build...
WTB or trade, I'd like to try and find the following list of items for my 1972 FJ55.
It's not a 100% restoration but a real clean usable truck. I'm located in Chico California, so closer is better. I also have a 1972 parts truck as well as a good personal stash of pig parts collected over 20...
100% Positive that I do not want to drive or own a pig with that type of dangerous scab work done to it. Probably good that the last dude stopped where he did. Did he sober up, did he find a nice young lady who likes crystal meth as much as he does? Perhaps the world will never truly know...
