Clicking Birf's
Steve,
I had no clicking before my first Birf job. I however, had gear oil in them. I did not pull the knuckle completely apart the first time I repacked them. I did pack thouroughly, and fill 75% with moly grease. They clicked.
I had to replace the trunion...
Gentlemen,
My 94 FZJ80 has a solid idle at a stoplight when the heater is not running. I notice an ever so slight drop (maybe 600 rpm or just a bit less) if I have my heater/blower on the high position at a stop. I was thinking alternator or voltage regulator. Any ideas or suggestions...
'Speedi-sleeve'
For $75 I would replace the PS axle. For the cost of a DS (long side) I would use a 'speedi-sleeve'. NAPA $40. I have some grooved axle's that I got with some birf's I bought, which will be getting the sleeves when needed.

I would stay away from the kerosene, just me anyway. I used this gnarly engine type degreaser (napthalene), and all it did was take forever to clean the parts, and ate the $15 gloves I bought from Home Depot. Go to Harbor Freight (if you live n Ft Collins, it is just past where the parts...
Yeah, I got that. Nice catch I also got the 'ccokie' problem logging in and it posted to this thread, not the intended.

Moxwell,
The search feature will get easier to use the more you exercise it. Here is a thread I found....................

Ignition cylinder removal
If I am not mistaken, the tumbler will not come out (using the button on the bottom ot the column) unless the ignition is in the ACC position. IE: you will need the key if you wish to keep the tumbler usuable.

NOVA,
Yeah, I think it is just a maintenance issue at 150K or so. I should get another 150K out if it, so it was money well spent IMO.
lxed,
s*** is right man. Bummer, I guess that is the reason I went ahead and got it done. Maybe Robbie, or some other 1FZ wrench would be up for some...
Gentlemen,
Robbie recently replaced my HG, and several other parts on my 94 FZJ 141K. I have been running Toyo red since flushing the green/grey coolant that was in the vehicle when I bought it in OCT 04. The truck has never had any overheating issues, but I did have to replace a leaking...
Romer,
They frickin' rock, if for no other reason than I had ZERO wait time for my PM. Robble was just getting them back right before I got him my rig. Funny, but the attention to detail and professionalism seemed to help the queasy feeling I got when my cash made a whoosh sound that I can...
speyrod,
Sorry to hear that. Just got my locked 94 141K back from Robbie last Friday. Through my conversations with Cdan and Robbie this is my list.
Items replaced:
HG
new (cleaned) injectors
H20 pump
Fan clutch
new vacuum hoses and heater hoses
New PCV valve
Head cleaned...
RT,
I am not 100% sure, but I thought that was the only 40W Mobil I saw (10-40, oh and 15-40). I live in Northern Colorado. I checked the Super Wal Mart in Loveland, Ft Collins, and Longmont. The old/small Wal Mart in Ft Collins carries the 5-40 M1, but it is never apparently in stock...
...consumption. Both result in oil loss, but slip is RPM dependent (mostly from high speed or rev). I believe Robbie has made comments on this in the past. That, or I am just making sh*# up as I go................which is always a possibility.

Gentlemen,
I have a couple of quarts of Mobil 1 5-40 left. I was unable to find any at the local Wal Mart's (x4). I was however able to pick up the Rotella T 5-40. Would mixing these be a 'no-no' as the different base type/brands?? I really would love to use M1, but all they seem to...
Everyone,
Thanks for all the info. Exactly what I was looking for. Those of you who have the time and knowledge really do make a HUGE difference to those of us who lack experience, but have desire to learn. I will be calling Dan today for a 'laundry list' of PM items. I would like to...
Thanks for the PM Dan. I was under the impression it meant Multi Layer Stainless, but I might be really confused. Anyway, I will PM again for parts details.
Thanks for the reply
Chris
The specific concern was related to having erosion of the block itself because of the bad HG. The work required to resolve that is on the magnitude of a rebuild (to remove block from vehicle to resurface). That is a potential problem or non issue, but until the head is off I won't know. The...
