I’m looking for options and feedback , I have the H diesel in my 45, I want to use it in my business and drive several hours on the interstate to the towns I work in in , i have the 4 speed in it , if you upgraded it what would be the ideal diesel upgrade , fuel mpg is not a factor,

The 12HT should bolt to that tranny if I'm not mistake. Other than that I would want a 1HD-t but that would require you to replace the transmission. My 1hdt is a million times better than my 2H

A 1HDT with a H151 would be better anyways in a Ute seeing H55F don’t like towing or working too hard in 5th.

Keeping it toyota under the hood instead of some new fangled torque monster also ensures you can keep your drive line without it all blowing up.

A switch to 3:70 in your differentials might be nice if your tires aren’t too big and you’re doing a lot of road driving.

Don’t tow in 5th at all. It is a coast gear only. Towing in 5th will eventually kill the trans, any Toyota 5spd.

Ok thanks for the tow info , I only plan on empty payloads I run Duramax 3/4 tons on my business side , but I kinda feel the HJ45 might get me some more business as it’s a head turner for sure

Its all about budget first, and then the rest follows.
If you change your gearbox, Im guessing you will need to get a new hand brake set up?
