Mysterious actuator in '79 BJ40 engine

These 2 actuators in my engine are not connected and yet the engine still runs fine. Can you tell me what they are supposed to do, and whether they would be original to a '79?

BJ knob looks like choke pull?

Does anyone know what the pull knob that has a choke looking symbol on it was originally supposed to do given that this is a diesel engine?

FJ40 Leather Seat Upholstery Replacement Source

I don't think they ever used leather in the FJ/BJ40...but originality is not my goal. I just like leather on seats just like I prefer leather shoes. I prefer not wearing vinyl shoes and a vinyl jacket, and I'm not in the desert so in my region leather is great for seats. I also enjoy...

FJ40 Leather Seat Upholstery Replacement Source

I have the originals that are just like in the HJ45 photo above and what you have... a 66.6/33.3 split bench, and unlike the HJ45 above but very much like yours I have two fold down bench seats in the rear.

FJ40 Leather Seat Upholstery Replacement Source

The split 60/40 bench is what I'm talking about. Is there a name for that bench? Are you having to have your seats done custom in leather? There is a no replacement set to buy? It would make things 1000 times easier and less costly.

FJ40 Leather Seat Upholstery Replacement Source

Does anyone have a source to recommend for leather seat upholstery replacement set? eBay search for "FJ40 leather" results in only 34 results TOTAL. Most of those are Chinese shifter boots, maybe a Chinese key fob. No replacement seat covers...and I mean real seat "covers"...not the slip...

    BJ40 Owner's Manual

I just did a search for all forum posts since the beginning of time at ih8mud with the words BJ40 Owner's Manual in the title. There is not a single post. Was there ever a specific BJ40 Owner's Manual, or did they just get the FJ40 Owner's Manual and Toyota called it a day? If there was a...

Good value in eBay Stainless Steel Fastener set from Australia?

There is an 825 piece set of stainless steel fasteners listed on eBay coming from Australia for around $250 including shipping to the U.S. Is this a good deal, and a smart idea to buy for an FJ40 rebuild? It's for so many series....70, 80, 100, 200, etc., is there maybe something more specific...

1996 or Newer Diesel 5-speed "Anything" SUV

How about the same except NOT diesel, available in the U.S.? So again that would be SUV-only (no pickups), non-Jeep, 4x4 (not AWD), standard transmission, 1996 or newer, in the United States.

1996 or Newer Diesel 5-speed "Anything" SUV

That's really a horrible pity. I mean not horrible like dying of a virus. But just sad to be denied of such options. Do you know of any home-swapped examples available in the U.S. currently?

1996 or Newer Diesel 5-speed "Anything" SUV

Does anyone know of any original or swapped diesel and standard transmission 4x4's SUVs (not pickups) with a diesel engine and manual transmission that are year 1996 or newer available for sale anywhere in the United States? Either Land Cruiser Series 80 or any Lexus model, or anything EXCEPT...

    Value Opinion Requested for BJ40

The VIN of the one I linked above is indicated in the eBay listing page as "BJ40015584" and the Fuel Type is listed as Diesel. What about makes you think it's petrol and not diesel?

    Value Opinion Requested for BJ40

Two votes thus far for $8,000 market value on the open market. Anyone else want to chime in? How does it compare to this one with the link below that had an eBay market value of $16,662? A 1979 FJ 40 (BJ40) on eBay
