Probably dumb question of the year so far but in all the years I've had my 80 I've never had to change a headlamp bulb. Now I do and I can't see how to get the bulb out.
I've unplugged the connector and now all I can see is the back of the bulb mainly covered by the rubber waterproof cover...
Sorry, I should have said.... the shop said they reverse pressurised the cooling system at 15 psi for 2 hours. There was no trace of any coolant in the bores.
OK, I'll get the head pressure tested again.
I should also have said that my engineer sniffed the rad cap and said that the...
The news is not so good and I'm back, cap-in-hand for more help and advice.
The shop took the head off today in the prescence of the consultant engineer and me.
The bolts were not marked with paint; when I asked about this the shop manager said there was no need to do this and it wasn't in...
For sure the closer the compression between cylinders the better but they're all high and 5 & 6 are haigher still.
Interestingly.... or not... between 5 and 6 is where the HG blew and that's where it's giving high compression now. Coolant in the cylinders raising the compression?
Should I...
$400 including the report.
What else can I do? I want him there while the head actually comes off so that he can see the unadulterated condition of the gasket & head,
The spec is 175 psi +/- 30psi difference between pots so they're all over spec but within the differential tolerance. I'm...
I've arranged for a mechanical repair assessor to visit the shop with me to watch the stripdown and then compile a report.
In the meantime I've got them to run a compression test on the cruiser - pots 1 through 4 are 185psi, 5 is 195psi and 6 is 190psi. Does that give any further clues to...
I find it puzzling as well but then again I no longer know what to think! I'm beginning to see spinning cylinder heads in my sleep as a result of my continually thinking of different scenarios!
All I can say for sure is that I had NO symptoms prior to having the HG replaced EXCEPT a "weeping"...
BTW, I wasn't ignoring you all, I was away for the weekend and I'm just catching up with everything now.
Thanks again for all the help, it is all a big help and a comfort! :)

I did put it to the owner that perhaps they might have made a mistake and I put it to them in several ways. The owner never once looked me in the eye but then again neither did he seem to be evasive, no more evasive than mechanics usually are anyway.
He was unwavering in his belief that it...
This is all really good and useful stuff!
landtank - why should the boltheads be marked exactly? Why should not marking them preclude correct sequencing? This could be a critical piece of information.
Can someone point me to a link that has the correct sequence and torque settings for the...
