Some additional points...added a receiver hitch to hold cargo rack. Also, when I say I pulled everything on the body and rehabbed/replaced, I ain't kidding. I even pulled the mud flaps and recoated the metal frames with flexseal! Probably $1000 in misc clips, screws, gaskets, etc...if Toyota...

1989 FJ62. 217,500 miles, and will go up as this is my daily driver. I’ve had this truck for about 4 years or so and hate to sell, but need a more practical vehicle for a bit. I’ll be back into a cruiser at some point, but time to let this one rehome. Truck is reliable, runs great and shifts...

Also, you may want to research the overfill issue on Mud...mine leaks between tcase and transmission, so I am running ATF in my case as well. Opinions vary on this but seems to happen often. Eventually, I'll reseal the tcase ,but for now seems like an acceptable solution and I just check...

After running it a bit, suck it up and do a full Rodney flush again with synthetic fluid, and be sure you have a cooler and gauge installed. Good luck and glad it worked out for now!

I had a similar issue after an overheat. Did a full Rodney flush, which you can find by searching archives. That didn't do it. Adjusted throttle valve cable. Helped it shift better from 1-2, but still didn't fix it. Realized I was likely looking at new granny, so gave the party trick a shot...

Thanks....does the console have to come out? If so, I may try and find a replacement fan for rear heater as it howls..

Need to replace the missing vent tube from a440 auto trans to top of dipstick tube on 89 . I suspect the easiest way to do this is to access from top. How do I do this and what all has to be removed? I would prefer to know what other "while I am there" items I should plan on, such as fixing...
