Desert nomad, It seems like you are developing the incurable 40 bug.
I think that KSA is best place to find a reasonable condition 40 for reasonable money. The trucks in UAE are either bad condition / undesirable mods or are good condition / restored and high cost.
Do you have any experience...
There is a parts distributor in UAE called TASRA. Branches in Dubai and Sharjah....not sure about AD. I use SZR branch just round corner from Mitsibushi Showroom. I got new Mopar rotors at almost half the cost that dealer wanted for my DD....
GC SRT8.....hope that doesnt get me kicked off the...
That would be some collection if you added the troopy and 45.
......I'd be happy with just one at the moment. I'd like a soft top 40 or 43.....but a hard top would be fine too. Not much available here so will probably need to find one in Saudi. Probably be a month or two before I pull the...
Mcladin.....you have an amazing driveway. Do you not feel guilty with all those 40's? :DSpecial mention to you Mercedes also.
Lexy is pretty rare....outside Saudi at least. Is there much difference with the 5 speed?
Hey Joel. I enjoyed reading those articles again. I look forward to the 3rd instalment! Think we are due a road trip to Al Ain to see what we can find out that way.
Cheers
Ian
Hey Joel. Nice thread.
Ian - Scottish. Living in Dubai. Im currently on the the search for a 40 or 43.
Photo of my old 43...just so I feel welcome at the party. It was an ex-Yemeni Army truck. It now resides at Al Falaj Classic Car Centre in Al Dhaid.
In my opinion I would keep the wheels white. Think that was the factory colour and matches well with your white bezel and roof. Either way it is a beautiful truck that you have!
Truck is looking sweet......i'm only a little bit jealous:DI will need to get down and see it in the flesh. Maybe see if that soft top 40 is still at Motorworld and get your 2 cents on it.
Congrats on your new truck! I remember seeing your article in local paper about your 40 a while back and good to see that you have picked up a 45. Thats an impressive stash of parts you have accumulated!
Ian
Nice find. Cant offer up much technical advice. i Havent found a parts store in Dubai. Al Futtaim don't seem too interested. I bought parts from Answar Toyota store in Al Dhaid. Found a garage out that way that was doing some good Resto work and another that looked a little rough but had loads...
Don't think there are many 40's available in Dubai. Might be few in remote areas but not easy to find. Got my eyes peeled for another member based in UAE who is looking for a Troopy. Plenty of 100's & 70 type pick ups. Will give you a shout if anything interesting comes up.
Hey Sarge,
Don't worry the rig has a good home now. In it for the long haul. Think its Ex Yemeni Army so thinking about Resto Mod with a Military look......think im getting a head of myself as its not evening running yet:)
Cheers Ian
Hello Mudders. Another Rookie here based in Dubai and just picked up my first FJ last week. Im in the same boat as Fishingwithbears, just reading the threads and soaking up the info. Loads of knowledge on this site that I will need to tap into for advice. I've got an FJ43 that PO planned to...
Hey Laurie, this is an old thread but wondering if you would point me in the direction of the scrap yard for
FJ 40's. Is it in Dubai or Sharjah? Cheers Ian
