Blue Fan Clutch Blues and Clutch ID help

Thanks, I'm glad to know that it is an Eaton. I had seen other posts reference the Eatons as 'black hub' fan clutches. I guess not all the Eaton hubs were actually black. I will keep it for a spare.

Blue Fan Clutch Blues and Clutch ID help

Well, it must be my lucky day, problem solved! After I made the above post, I recalled that many years ago one of our 2000 100 series LCs had a fan clutch go out because an orifice adjusting screws backed out. That caused the fan clutch to mechanically lock up resulting in some internal...

Blue Fan Clutch Blues and Clutch ID help

The AC in our 97 80 Series was underperforming in the recent Texas heat wave. I couldn't tell what brand or version of fan clutch was in the vehicle, but it looked very old, so I put in a brand new Aisin blue fan clutch. A week later and still not happy with the AC condenser performance, I...

Transmission not downshifting while in D. P0750, P0753, P0773 and a random P0510 months ago

Thanks for the update and glad you finally got that tough to diagnose tranny issue sorted. Kudos to you for digging in there and figuring it out when the dealership couldn't. I am currently dealing with a similar PO753 intermittent issue where it sometimes doesn't shift back to first and...

    Another full send video

Amazing what these vehicles can do even on small tires when owners are not afraid of some body damage and apply more than ample skinny pedal.

    Coil pack melted

The spark plug back out issue is real and too many of us are learning the hard and expensive way. I've owned and maintained Toyotas for 40 years and it bit me in the ass last week on one of our LCs. I thought it was going to be a quick coil change, to fix a misfire code, but nope it was a...

    Source for Ignition Coils

"I just purchased 8 Densos from Rock Auto for $48/ea." Did you have some sort of discount code or rebate to get that price, as all I see on their site is pt. no. 673-1303 for $54.79?

Help Diagnosing Brake Fluid Leak 1999 LX 470 250k miles

I had a similar issue a couple years back on my 2000LX. I ended up replacing the ABS module with a used one and have had no problems since. There are a couple different versions of the ABS module over the years, so if you go that route make sure you get the correct one for your particular...

    Deep Humming Sound

While you are having the wheel bearings checked, another possible cause could be the front hub flange/drive axle splines being worn. This wear can get accelerated if the proper gap between the hub flange and snap rings has not been maintained over the life of the rig. Best of luck.

Ahc torsion bar and rear springs

I just got through replacing the rear springs on our LX470 with a pair of used rear ones off our 80 Series yesterday. I only have maybe 250-300 lbs of gear in the back. The 80 series springs just brought the rear AHC pressure back within spec. I am even consider adding some spacers to bring...

    Coil pack preventative replacement?

My experience with our three 100's over many years is to just carry an OBD II scanner, a spare OEM coil or two, a decent set of tools including a flashlight. Its a failure mode that is not going to leave you dead in the water and it is a pretty much a one banana job that I have schooled one of...

Trail Mater recovers a rolled 100 at Moab on Hells Revenge

I came across this video of Trail Mater recovering a rolled 100 on Hells Revenge out at Moab. It is really sad to see another 100 bite the dust. Does anyone know the circumstances which caused this rig to roll in the first place? Mostly I'd be interested in whether there are any lessons...

    Off center calipers?

I recently had a similar issue with my 80 when going to the 100 series brake pads. The rotors appear to be original as does everything else, however I am not the original owner, so I cannot 100 percent guarantee this. The rotor thickness was still at the top end of the tolerance range which...
