Wow...OLD THREAD!!
I am in need of all parts nessaccary to convert a 1971 FJ40 transfercase from vacume shift to floor shift (already modded for 2 LO would be:cool:)

What are the measurements on FJ60 springpacks and how can I identify them if they are no longer on the rig?

Eye to centerpin
Is the centerpin offset?
I have been looking for springs to use in the rear of my FJ40 to gain wheelbase and have found a set of FJ60 leafsprings that I...
Does anybody know what vehicles the power steering pump was mount in this location from GM?
I need to find these mounts and everything that I find seems to mount lower on the engine and will not clear my steering shaft.
I have a 1971 FJ40 with a SBC and a GM tilt column, thanks in advance...
Looks good! What steering column are you using? I'm tring to get mine wrapped up, but the steering shaft is hitting the frame on the steering box side of the motor mount.
BTW mine is a 71' Fj40, SBC, saginaw 4.25 box, tilt column from a 1992 chevy truck.

I helped a buddy do this converesion in a J**P and it is not as straight forward as it seems at the start. There is a vehicle speed sensor that will cause some problems.

while i understand the concerns of a front end crash I would like to know if the setup i mentioned above has posed any problems for the folks that have used it.
I have seen this used before and would like some input from people with first hand experience.
Thanks!
I am in the process of finishing a saginaw P/S install into my '71 FJ40 and would like to know if anybody has had any problems using a steering shaft (column to box) that is fixed in length.
My main concern is that when the chassis flexes the shaft will not be able too compensate for the...
you have already done the hard part...do not half ass it now! do all bearings, rings and wearable parts now if you want a solid truck...the worst thing that could happen would be to spend all this time and $$ and then have to do it AGAIN because you tried to save a few bucks.
Just my...
