I am a happy camper- PS upgrade is done

Looks good! What steering column are you using? I'm tring to get mine wrapped up, but the steering shaft is hitting the frame on the steering box side of the motor mount. BTW mine is a 71' Fj40, SBC, saginaw 4.25 box, tilt column from a 1992 chevy truck.

    LT1 conversion

I helped a buddy do this converesion in a J**P and it is not as straight forward as it seems at the start. There is a vehicle speed sensor that will cause some problems. If you can get the vin # from the donor car and call Howell Engine Development in Michigan as they make a harness that you...

    Lookin at a welder

I just upgraded from a hobart 140 to a MillerMatic 180 and cannot believe the difference in the two machines! Not only does the MillerMatic 180 have an auto-set feature (which is F'n Sweet!) the quality of the weld it makes is much better. Even though the machines are both made by Miller they...

I am in the process of finishing a saginaw P/S install into my '71 FJ40 and would like to know if anybody has had any problems using a steering shaft (column to box) that is fixed in length. My main concern is that when the chassis flexes the shaft will not be able too compensate for the...

    35 12.50 15 with 3" Back spacing

    35 12.50 15 with 3" Back spacing

Thanks for the response, unfortunatly I do not have the stock wheels to measure or I would have. maybe I do not understand this correctly but doesn't going down in number i.e. from 3.5" to 3.0" make the tire move AWAY from the vehicle? if this is the case why will it not fit...
