oil in the side coolant reservoir

I bought the below kit to verify my suspicions of a head gasket leak. Get the engine to normal operating temperature, shut down, take off the radiator cap, install the stopper and airlock, put a little of the test fluid in the airlock, turn engine back on. If the liquid changes color within...

97 Land Cruiser Leaking Oil Pump/Timing Cover - Need to pull head??

During my recent head gasket (and thousands of dollars of "while you're in there"), the tech took the engine all the way out to make things easier and probably save an hour of labor when the timing guides disintegrated during head removal. Head had to get decked so i sprang for the full...

Part number for the S-shaped rubber hose that goes from the silencer to the PAIR/reed valve (1993)

I deleted the silencer to make room for a 2nd battery box and used NAPA 9260 i think? Depending on how anal your emissions inspector is you might have trouble deleting the silencer. But i find i have to be standing next to the PAIR valve with the hood up at just the right moment to hear it...

    STUMPED- codes 25, 26, 71. Help please?

My interpretation of 25 and 26 together, based on the troubleshooting information in the manual. is that all the ecu is telling me is that the truck is idling rough. Which is frustrating because i know it is idling rough i am driving it. My other vehicles are newer vw/audi vehicles and i have...

Alarm system problems, help needed please!

My condolences. If it's the same TVSS as was in my '94, which is by no means assured, you can probably unplug the box (under the driver seat or in the driver kick panel i think) and bypass the starter cutout with a jumper wire like this.

    Code help! Car wont start!

It's possible that the carbon tracks in the VAF have worn through. I am assuming that the VAF on the 3fe has the same connector, probably similar resistance numbers, but you should look for the 91 FSM to be sure. This image is from the '94 FSM. this is from the "volumeai" pdf in the SFI...

    80 series power antenna

Kinda wish i had the automatic antenna ECU that the 95-97 trucks have. Also wish i hadn't hit a branch with the mast i paid $25 for 10 years ago. They're closer to $40 now.

    Speaker upgrade advice.

I recently replaced the front door speakers i installed 12 years ago with these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FUZV7ZG/ Basically any shallow 6.5" / 165mm speaker will fit in the front doors, and mounting on top of the door card may be recommended for many. In the rear doors, I think...

    Life After 300K?

Yeah, it took me a while to find someone willing to do the head gasket on my 94. Halverson in Provo ultimately did it, and they might regret it? I fully understand why shops are wary particularly if they have limited space. Halverson had my rig for about 6 weeks and it was like peeling an...

    Sticky Power locks? Use Houdini!

My saga is, I always used the alarm fobs for entry and locking, and had discovered that the original keys only worked in the driver door and ignition. About 8 years ago, I was working on the trailer wiring and discovered a magnetic hide-a-key containing a copy key attached to the receiver...

By the by, an aftermarket replacement seems to exist, though it sure isn't cheap. https://trupar.com/p/toyota-forklift-wire-engine-82121-60342

    Head Gasket

There was a crosshatch pattern to it, but i would say my block was closer to 200-300 before they manually honed it. I didn't see it afterward. I've only had it back for a couple weeks, I'm driving it preferentially because i have been working from home for 6 years now and i don't drive a whole...

    Head Gasket

Yeah. the shop doing my head gasket went ahead and removed the engine. It got expensive.

    Head Gasket

The plastic chain guides on my 94 disintegrated when the head came off, so i ended up having the timing components replaced too. Machine shop said that the head would need 8 thou removed and then took 20 thou. If they'd said 20 i might have gone looking for a better head. Timing worked out...
