Window Track Broken, not the one you are thinking of

I am usually ok at finding things on mud but this time failed. This is not the window mechanism. The front of the driver’s window follows a u-bend track as it goes down. This track looks to be connected at the bottom by two spot welds and by something at the top. My track has become...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

If you didn’t already, try lowering tire pressure when you hit the trails. Makes a big difference on the teeth rattle. Enjoy.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Installed red head steering gearbox. Amazing difference in driving. If your steering is loose just do this. I first tried rebuilding my leaking one, just could not get it to tighten up. Was cool to see how these things work but never doing that again.

    Steering gear box rebuild

For the record, there are 44 ball bearings in the 80 series Land Cruiser steering gearbox. Don’t asking how much time I spent searching that. Finally got the idea to count the picture. (Hopefully the wording above turns up in people’s google searches). Awesome write up , Thank you

    Driver's Door Won't Open

I was on a road trip at the time so just bent the broken spring into a hook and put it back in place. I did buy a package of random springs after this a Princess Auto, in Canada, but never when back to replace it. Not sure what the equivalent store in the US would be.

What Qualities Make a Trailer More Off-Road Capable?

Same here. Almost never notice my pintle. Easy to attach and I know it is not coming off, even if I flip it (ask me how I know). I have backed it up over hills when turning and never think about it. Also agree with don’t bother matching the tire. It is a waste. These tires don’t drive the...

    RTT lift with pneumatic cylinder?

Nice. So many questions. Do you have actuators in all four corners? Where did you source them? Waterproof IP65? As simple as wiring them all together in parallel?

    RTT lift with pneumatic cylinder?

Probably a stupid idea since I have not seen it yet, does anyone use a pneumatic cylinder and compressed air to lift and lower their RTT? I have a CDN M101 and copying a bunch of you built a rack the keeps it in the down position when driving and lifts it to 6’ when camping. I currently...

    Rear Calliper not Centred

After removing the seal I remounted the hub and the brake was centred. Thinking maybe the spring somehow got stuck between the shaft and bearing.

    Rear Calliper not Centred

Just found a YouTube video that said to fill the spring cavity with bearing grease.

    Rear Calliper not Centred

Hey Mud. Need advice on oil seals and what I did wrong. Pulled apart the wheel bearings to find the spring from the inner seal had failed and was dragged into the bearing. I only drove 3 blocks. The bearing races were well seated. Bearing is shot. Dug through garbage and confirmed the...

    Rear Calliper not Centred

Hi. Replaced my rear bearings and now my right rear brake calliper is not centred. Rubs the disc on the outside. The only thing I can think of is I did not seat the bearing raceway all the way. The inner one is not in far enough in so the shaft is sticking out 1/16” or less to far...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Fixed leak coming off the roof through rear hatch. Turns out top ridge above the seal was full of mud. Never thought of cleaning above the seal. Take 5min next time you clean to run a rag over the top of the rear hatch seal. Save you some bleaching.

👍Was just going to say the same. Also safer being in the middle of the truck.
