'91 LC, key will go in driver's door about 3/4, then stop. Try to unlock from inside vehicle with both electric lock button and the manual button, nothing. Almost feels like the manual button near door handle inside is jammed.
The vehicle was locked from the inside.
Thoughts, fixes? thanks
The '91 developed a problem today it has never had. Drive it, shut it off, won't start. It cranks, but sounds like not firing. Let it sit for 20 minutes and it fires right up. Drive it 20, shut it off, won't start.
Fixed this before? Thanks
If you buy it for the asking price, it would be hard to imagine it falling in value any faster than it has.
If a person wants a short-term vehicle, salvage is probably not the way to go. I buy them with every intention of driving the wheels off of them.
I have owned several theft recoveries, waiting now on an auction of a late model LC theft with no damage, with under 10,000 miles. Never had a problem yet...but clearly it is a buyer beware situation. Do your homework on the vehicle.
If you drive 20,000 miles per year, and assuming gas prices @ $2.60 per gallon, the difference between a vehicle averaging 15 mpg and one averaging 20 mpg is $865. I consider the extra cost to be an insurance cost, really.
Potential buyers who do not want front armor on a LC really confuse me. They should price the parts for 1 deer strike and then re-evaluate their thinking. Shucked the front bumpers on both of mine...although while waiting on the aftermarket front I did get a deer in the '91....nothing on the...
Depends what you want to do with the vehicle. If you want / need to street it, I would listen closely to the post about windshield / A pillar dimensions, so true. If you just want to trail run it? Roll-cage and a set-up like the pinzgauer has where the soft-sides can be rolled up and have an...
Vehicle: 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser w/ factory lockers. 220,000 miles.
Problem: Front axle "clicking" when making sharp / tight turns.
I have searched the 80 tech forum and found many threads on the Birfield issue, but am trying to find a soup to nuts sort of thread that I can print and just...
Man how I would love to do that swap into my '91. Love the truck and boy has she been steady, but that is almost double the mpg I get...and it couldn't be any slower:)
I use that same size. Most of my off-road use is in the woods and with the honey locust thorns, nubs of down limbs, or cut sapling stumps the 10 ply have held up very well. You do trade off highway ride comfort though. I have been impressed with them in mud and snow and just the mucky stuff...
As the story is told, she was just driving down a country road near our home, revs shot up and truck wouldn't pull.
I re-read my first post and it was awfully light on facts. Impossibly vague, really. Of the many things I thought might have happened, a belt breaking and cutting a hose was...
Yes, it has been filled up and driven off, goes in tomorrow for some new coopers. Dodged one there. Good point on the Toyota belts, will contact CDan and get that done.
What are you shooting this weekend?
