I thought about welding the back part to the frame but I'm not completely sure I'll keep this setup. If I decide to keep it I may at least run a short weld on the side.
I finished up. I thought over the mounting points and went with the 2 bolts next to each other on the frame. I would have liked the load to be spread out more but I tested the winch plate with only 2 bolts in by almost lifting the front end off the ground with my jack. Since the bolts in the...
Thought it over. This is the best solution for a maddening situation. Looks the best and I think it'll be strong enough. I'm going to put a grade 8 lock nut in the empty hole. Cut a crescent in two washers and bolt it up. Pic on the right is using the two threaded holes. It significantly bumps...
So.... There are three holes on my 93 frame. 2 are have threaded captured nuts and the middle is just a hole. If I move the plate back it leaves me with one hole that has a captured nut to thread into and the plate covers the second captured nut. My thoughts are I could put a nut in the frame...
I considered trimming the back portion of the mount but was concerned about compromising it's integrity and loosing bolt down surface area. I'm sure it would still be stout enough as it is built well and the metal is thick. I also had a problem with hacking off any part of a $480 winch plate.
If you have a 1993 this is what you will have to do in order for the Trail Taylor hidden winch plate to fit. Previous post from TT said this was tested on a 92, 94 and 97 with no issues. I am definately having issues getting mine installed. Still won't reach the mounting holes and I am having...
Fellas. I don't think this is going to work on my 93. I set the bumper on jack stands and leveled it out. My bracket is 2.25 inches from the top and bottom bolt holes. If I did cut a hole for the entire front of the plate it looks like the winch will prevent the bumper from moving inboard any...
Thanks for the responses. I'll keep fiddling with it and update my progress. My expectation was to only have to cut out for the fairlead. My goal was to keep my rig looking as original as possible.
I have the exact same tire carrier with new tjm progressive springs. I'm 3/4 inch low on that side (drivers). I ordered a 20mm spacer. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Need some help with my TT hidden winch mount. I'm not sure if I was sent the wrong mount but my bumper will not go back into the stock mounting holes because the bottom and front of the mount stop the bumper from reaching any holes. I was able to get a bolt into an unused hole but it's...
I've built a Jeep 4.0 (first ever engine rebuild and assembly by myself) and my 80 engine. I use Moore Machine Shop in Moore OK. Burt and his wife have been in business for years and he is an amazing machinist. He builds hotrod engines for alot of the drag racers in the area. He's meticulous and...
Just throwing this out. If I remember correctly, aren't you located in Oklahoma? If so, I live in Edmond and if not too far off, I may be able to help build if that helps you finish projects more timely. Of course I would want a guaranteed one for myself. Lol
