Okay thanks . Are both plugs the same size ? Can you tell me what size plugs I need to buy ? This might be getting over my head . I might just take it to a garage . You have me worried about the rebuild kit now . Should I just not take a...
Thanks I found this video about reverse bleeding . I think this is going to be what I try first . I need it to be as simple as possible . What do you think of this kit ? Is there one you could recommend that might be cheaper but still good ...
So, I was just trying to diag a possible stuck/sticky caliper so I set the cruiser on four jack stands two on each axle. Each wheel only one maybe two inches off the ground. Had my helper shift it from park to drive. The wheels spooled up as they...
It would be very helpful if someone who has done this can provide more specific instructions / photos of:
-Location of ABS ECU. I believe this is the silver box in the left side footwell.
-How to disconnect the 'F' (ground) connector from the...
Yeah I'm starting to lean towards just deleting ABS. This truck is going to be trail only in a few months and I'm OK living with no ABS on road as I've driven non-ABS cars before. I think that honestly these trucks may stop safer with no ABS than...
While driving ~20mph you can put two tires onto a dirt shoulder and use the brakes moderately hard, the ABS will actuate on the low traction side. Then cross the other side and do the same with the other two tires. Obviously don't do this on a...
Reviving an old thread, but I just used a version of the method SUMOTOY proposed and it worked great. I just replaced all my calipers and lines and allowed the master to go dry in the process so I had a ton of air in the system. I bench bled...
Truck info: 1994 LC with ABS
So after some brake work (Caliper replacement with pads) I had spongy brakes. Wasted good amount of brake fluid trying to bleed them. I suspected that Air was trapped in ABS actuator but short of buying the SST tool...
All of the bad master cyls I've taken apart had too much bore damage for a successful rebuild even after honing. hopefully you have better luck. a reverse bleed will prevent any air form ever getting into the ABS and save you alot of time.
The Factory Service Manual (FSM) has the procedure for bleeding the ABS Brakes. The FSM for your year can be found in the resource section here.
Originally, it did take a special Toyota tool, which no one has. There are threads here to bleed...
The need for pumping of the brake pedal sounds like loose wheel bearings not the master cylinder.
A bad master cylinder would be when you apply the brakes but the pedal slowly drops to the floor because of leaking seals.
I usually drive on a gravel road or loose dirt and lock up the brakes so the ABS kicks on. I have the Autel MX808 and used that to bleed the ABS on my 2008 F350. Haven’t tried it on the LC.
Yes its pedal slowly drops to the floor . Sorry I should have typed that out . Once it at the floor a few pumps of the pedal and it feels correct again but after a minute or to it does the same thing . Do you know how to bleed the abs pump ?
I don't see why you couldn't cut a slot above and below the screw into the handle and run a flat bar through it pushing it in from the bottom and drill a hole in the metal where the screw goes and screw it in .
I have a 97 lx450 . I'm having bake problems . My brake pedal is going all the way down and not stopping me very good . A few pumps of the pedal and it seems to be normal again but only for a short time. I can't find a leak . I'm going to get a...
When you unscrew the top line that goes to the abs pump if one drop of fluid comes out of that line wouldn't that allow air in that line ? Once you bled the master cylinder and put the top line back on how do you go about making sure you get...
I'm interested in how this all goes. I've got parts on the way for my HZJ80 for a total brake system rebuild, from the master cylinder down to the calipers.
working on this reminded me how the 80 series engine compartment mysteriously swallows stuff one may drop in there - it may fall out the bottom or it may not.
Nothing wrong with old master cylinder aside from having a dirty reservoir but it's a...
