PO removed and lost the fly wheel inspection cover for a '72 with a 3 speed. So I found one and it's on it's way to me. Judging by the SOR diagram below, it would appear that it DOES NOT need a gasket? Is that a safe assumption? Thanks.

Agreed, I think the Webbah does have a vac advance port, but it is currently plugged. IIRC. I have one on trollhole's carbs on my '74 project Thunderdome, I suppose I could rob Peter to pay Paul and swap it out, but I hate doing that, if the weber is working, OK. We shall see. If it comes down...

Interesting, good to know. So that dizzy does have advance it's just centrifugal and internal so it doesn't outwardly look like it has it. Well to be safe I ordered a points dizzy form Trollhole, that way we can rule that out. The weber carb will probably be the next thing to look at.

Good suggestion Curt, but I'm also a fan of if ain't broke... so we are trying to figure out what's going on. I've heard weber's are bad, but the no vac advance seemed like a bigger problem. Honestly I haven't done much in the wiring realm, but when I look at all of the "harnesses" they look like a bunch of wire and universal connectors with a fuse block on one end, ie nothing magical. So I feel like I could buy some wires, get the diagram, get some connectors and re-wire the thing...
