    My immobilizer fix

Thanks @medtro, another 100 series made it home. I’ve been wiggling the fuse and relay for the last week, last night that routine failed to get it started and I drove home from work with a jumper wire straight from the battery. Made it home without exploding anything, and bypassed it with your...

    Another wet trunk question

I spent the last 2 weekends chasing a leak in the same area. After disassembling everything from the rear doors back and having someone spray every seam with a hose with me inside watching, I found that both trim strips under the rear wing windows were leaking, water ran down on the passenger...

    Simple LX470 Build/Refresh “CabinCruiser”

My other off-highway excursion was hitting a patch of unexpected ice on a cold, otherwise clear road, hopping sideways across the oncoming lane on the verge of tipping, and ending up in the far ditch. Terrifying with the kids and dogs. Duratracs have been the best AT/MT I’ve ran in the snow, but...

    Simple LX470 Build/Refresh “CabinCruiser”

Quick update on the “CabinCruiser”. It’s been great. We take it up usually once or twice a month, fully loaded with now 2 kids, the 2 dogs in the back, and the largest roof box I could find to hold an entire weekends worth of stuff for all of us. It barely fits, I might need to run 2 boxes when...

    LX470 H1 LED Bulb

I messed around with these bulbs some more, I didn’t realize the retainer base that clips in was removable at first. I clamped that in first then put the bulbs in 180 degrees from where they were and the squirrel finders are much less apparent now. Definitely tolerable.

Crusty connectors behind bumper drivers side

Just messing around with some lighting upgrades, put some selective yellow fog lights in the bumper grills, upgrading the others to LED. I’ll be doing the pin mod at the steering column to run the brights with the fogs on tomorrow, I’ll poke around at the mystery connectors and see if there’s...

Crusty connectors behind bumper drivers side

Oops, 2001 LX470. That black stuff was pretty hard, almost like epoxy or melted plastic. CA car, no rust at all, but it would probably catch some spray off the tire. That corroded connector seems very out of place vs the rest of the vehicle condition. Not causing any problems, I'm most...

Crusty connectors behind bumper drivers side

I’m sure this has been asked but I’m not hitting the correct search terms. Highly likely I will put the bumper back on and ignore these completely, but the curiosity is getting to me. What are these for, and why are they so nasty? Found behind the bumper on the drivers side, just next to the fog...

    LX470 H1 LED Bulb

Amazing. Thank you. I didn't even notice them with the factory bulbs. I see in this retrofit thread, they were blocked with aluminum ducting tape, I'll have to see if that is accessible from the rear tonight. Even if they're supposed to be there, I parked the LX and drove my Corolla by it and...

    LX470 H1 LED Bulb

I bought the Hikari LEDs and dust boots, and installed them last night. I got a really wacky beam pattern though, each light puts out 2 squares of very intense light right at winshield level of oncoming cars. The bulbs seem to only fit in one way with the groove in the housing, did I miss...

    Recommended aftermarket front axles

OEM x 100. When I first bought my 100, it had a ripped boot. Had both axles changed out with aftermarkets at a shop, at their suggestion, and got half that money off the purchase price. They kept both my OEMs for the "core charge". Had a terrible P-N-D clunk and vibration in the driveline, ended...

    Cost of Ownership

I've owned my LX for just over one year and spent more on repairs than all 4 of my 3rd Gen 4runners combined over 8 years and several hundred thousand miles. Not knocking the LX/LC, it's been great other than sorting out an expensive CV issue, but the 3rd Gens are exceptional. I bought them all...

The ABCs of AHC - How to Measure, Flush, and Adjust all in one place

This is great. It took me a week of research before I tackled it, should be added to the FAQ

AHC, Actual Height, Pressures - LC100

With the vehicle off, cross level it right to left by adjusting the torsion bars. Measuring from the bottom lip of the wheel is easier for me than finding the hub center, and for this purpose the numbers don't matter, they just need to be equal. Crank clockwise to raise one side...

    180k mileage for daily driver

180k is just getting started. I recently bought a 181k LX for my official kid and dog transporting vehicle and it doesn't worry me one bit. This isn't specifically about the 100 series, but I have bought 7 other Toyota 4x4s (Tacomas/4runners) between 150-190k at the time of purchase and ran...
