I would totally be interested in an actual compact 4x4 with decent gas mileage . I had an S-10 2WD that I on,he got rid of when I had kids, couldn’t really fit a car seat in there, but that use-case is long gone
I think the elevation changes play a big part in that, as well as the wind across AZ. I've taken that route in the LC and the only way I got decent mileage was dropping to 70 like you did, and disabling the cruise control on elevation changes.
I remember looking at it at one point, and to run an AC throughout the day, you really need to be connected to 30amp service, or leave a generator running all day. Unless there is some ultra-efficient new AC setup, it won't run off the battery alone.
My guess, you are about to lose a coil pack. Check for engine codes & the air filter like others have said. The coil pack going out can cause misfires, but it has to exceed a certain number of the in a minute before the check engine light comes on
I've decided to sell my Hundy. I don't plan to be gone long, as I plan to find a Troopy to build in the next year, and may buy a 1st Gen Tacoma or earlier mini-truck If I get time to get out again soon.
I will be working on washing it this weekend, and taking some additional pictures, as well as updated my parts list that will go with it. The belly plates are not currently installed for recent maintenance completed and intend to leave them off in case someone wants to get a look.
