well I opened the hood t this morning and I hear nothing in the engine bay. m wife however, who was in the cabin, did hear the sound and says it's coming from the left of the steering column. any idea what's there that can make a sound like this?

I sure hope not as this actually started when the manifold was fixed.. but well since this started around that time you are making me a tad worried

Thanks for the responses sofar! It sounds like a static radio like marshotel mentions. I wish I could upload a soundfile but imagine a static radio going on for a sec then off, on for a sec then off etc. I will check if it is where you mention when I get off work!

so a little more info: i just got the coil out (or what was left of it) and it pretty much melted all the way. also the spark plug is halfway melted. looks pretty bad. so any idea what to do? i'm afraid plastic melted on the sleeve and most likely dirt got into the head. any advice on how to go...
