Ok folks, a year and a half later and the dashboard lights up like a Christmas Tree.
What is it?
Diagnostic is that the alternator is failing and started surging in volts..
Phoenix Alernator
Ordered.
In any case I need to fab a bracket, but 3+ inches sounds right on the money.
It is possible I turn so motor is on driver side and adjust line to correct spooling and not need extended cables.
Thanks again for the insights.
Hey, look at that!
Very nice, thank you for pointing that out.
Significantly less than buying three 4 foot strands of the needed guage of copper wire and lugs.
How tall is that box (how far does it protrude from mount)?
Trying to estimate any clearance issues before buying that.
The remote plug...
I ended up installing it and it all has worked well.
Keep an eye on pulley diameter and put in writing the size you want in case one with a smaller diameter gets sent and need to follow up.
Seemed like a good as good a time as any to upgrade component because the alternator failed.
I...
Finally getting around to installing my winch and working out the control box location.
Glad this model by Comeup allows clocking the gears and lever for problem free access (see pic)
Not much room inside bumper to mount control box except upside down.
This made access to the switch to isolate...
The pulley was slightly smaller but the automatic tensioner took up the slack fine.
Install was tight, but easy.
Had a separate big question I posted in a separate thread.
So far so good, thanks for the insights folks.
Swapped out the alternator with a Phoenix Alernator 240 amp high output one.
Doing the big 3, positive terminal on alternator to + battery, engine block to -battery, and body to -battery.
I left the existing ground wire from battery in place to the engine block and doubled up the new one instead...
Thanks for those details, very helpful.
They aren't available today.
I've got it out, so I'm going to stall and talk to them before putting new one in.
I found loosening the mounting bolts on the power steering pump so it can move forward enough for clearance of alternator case easier to do than...
Thank you for the quick reply.
It is fairly straightforward to install (removing last mounting bolt next)
Biggest draw will be winch, which I install next.
I am going this route with the same alternator.
How has yours performed?
Any tips about installing their cable kit?
How about the pulley size?|
Thanks in advance for any hindsight you can share.
