just put a new set of brushes / plunger in it and youll be fine
it sounds like the plunger is sticking plus if original the contacts would likely be in need of a refresh
its a very simple job
Same here, drove mine off the lot on 95 and agree with everything you have said Jonheld
Only difference was mine had Dunlop Grandtrek tyres as OEM fitment 275/70*16 and they were a P type tyre so comfort oriented.
It rode like it was on a cushion and felt like it floated along. Many times on...
If the original HG and associated seals etc then sounds normal, also what grade / type oil do you use?
mine did similar prior to the HG going and after re doing it uses nothing, just a leak at the oil pump housing which i keep putting off doing.....
Kaymar swing outs use Holden 'trailer' wheel bearings - commonly found in most auto shops in aus stock them but the below link shows the specs
Your pics look very similar

agreed, if this is how my water pump looked with Toyota LLC 50/50mix when its bearing went south at 475,000km then i see no reason to put snake oil in there
have a word to your local ARB, there are 3 small wires at your headlight switch in the steering column that one is tapped into to the trigger wire for the relay.
It's over 25 years since I did this and can't quite remember which of the three it is but when I 1st put IPF spotties on they advised...
have you taken the plastic covers off the top of the head and checked for water in the spark plug tubes? It sounds like there may be water in there
+1 on what Marvelicious said about pressure washers as well, garden hose only I use and for small cleanups on metal parts i just use brake cleaner...
yeah, i understand what youre saying. im just going by experience when my truck had a growl/rumble upon decel and it was the rear uni at the diff that was on its way out that caused it. When I had a front DS uni go bad it did the opposite - rumble on accel but nothing on decel
unbolt the drive shafts and check the uni's when theyre not attached to the flanges, its the best way to determine the needle bearings are not shot / binding which can be hidden when bolted in place
the 'grrr' on decel is classic rear tailshaft uni at the DIff end. Unbolt each uni from the flange to properly check, on vehicle can hide issues when feeling by hand
vibration on accel can be the slip yoke binding up as well (old hardened grease, over greased / hydraulic locked / bad U-joint)
fixed a leaky rear LHS axle shaft seal that made a bit of a mess of the hand brake shoes and then spent the day on the Goulburn river
I must have got it early as the oil level in the diff hadnt dropped much
