Late 40 series front seat assembly question

Closing the loop here. Seats disassembled, bracket carefully bent back to the correct position, new bottom foam from SOR, new covers from Cruiser Corps, and new hinge bushings/clip installed. Glad to have the seats sitting back at the right angle and the new foam is a game changer.

Cruiser corp seat cover install questions - 1982 40

Done. Help and intel here and from @DirtDauberGarage, @WTFOVR, others from the Atl YOTA crew was a huge help. I’m thinking she wears em well. Beer break with the dogs was a critical step. Also: 1) do yourself a favor and cover the foam with a trash bag prior to wrestling on the covers -...

Cruiser corp seat cover install questions - 1982 40

Hoping someone has been through this exercise with Cruiser Corp covers and Specter foam. Specifically: My existing seat covers had no backing wire to reuse and none came with the new covers. Does anyone know the best gauge/type wire to use? Specter recommends bagging the foam while installing...

    1962 FJ40 questions

Yeah, I can’t imagine any full restoration on one of these (even with your low starting price and especially with the labor being outsourced) would ever be a wise financial decision. If it were me, i’d try and make it safe/reliable/driveable, then work on cosmetics. Cosmetics for me would be...

Late 40 series front seat assembly question

Excellent intel. I see what you are saying - looks like both sides are bent down, but I’m not seeing stress cracks. Will try and bend it back up first, but, yeah, certainly will be weaker for it.

Late 40 series front seat assembly question

Quick question - getting started on a front bucket seat recover project (1982 seats, which look similar to the fj60). Taking apart the seat, the non adjustment side-hinge was missing the circlip and the bushing is trashed. Have located the parts, but should the hinge be lining up at this odd...

Talk me out of getting a project FJ40

Talk you out of it? Hah, yeah right. If you are seeking advice on avoiding an addiction, the current addicts might not be the best source of advice. I’m currently, though, enjoying the addiction. Looks like a fun, but uneconomical (as they all are) project. Do it
